Let's say that Tarantino's movie doesn't get through, then what?

They struggled to get Chris Pine back, so clearly they need a new direction. Now remember, this will have to cater to the general movie-going audience - not just 'us' fans.

what would you want to do?

A standalone Pike movie?
More Kelvin timeline?
A new Kirk and Spock?
A completely new group of characters?
Spin-off from an existing show?
DS9/Voyager + 25 years?
A continuation of the Enterprise characters?

Prime, Kelvin or new timeline! Animated or live action. You can hire any directors or actors you want. High budget or low budget.

The sky's the limit!

Well, realistically I would think that CBS wouldn't want Paramount to make another Kelvin timeline (or any other new universe) film only because they wouldn't want fans to be confused about which universe it's set in. I would think that the next Trek movie would take place in the prime timeline. As to what it would be about or who the characters are, I'd say go with what works: prime Kirk and Prime Spock during the TMP era. I don't know of any Shatner or Nimoy lookalikes at that age, though.

On the other hand, setting a movie in either the Kelvin Timeline or a new universe could allow the movies and TV shows to be their own things without needing to cross-coordinate anything. Although I guess having a movie set in a completely different era then any of the other TV shows also allows that.

Is that something CBS worries about?

Not set in the Kelvin universe, Star Trek: Kelvin.

The adventures of Captain Robau and first officer George Kirk. Both roles recast.

They worried about it enough when producing DSC that they made it a point to differentiate it from the Kelvin films by saying that DSC takes place in the “prime” universe.

Obviously all we need is an idea which satisfies all Trek fans from TOS to JJ + a ground breaking science fiction arc of epic proportions.

Im thinking about a TOS / TNG crossover movie with a storyline which interacts but not necessarily shows characters from different timelines at the same time.

Something like Generations but with a better script, some a-class actors and a thought provoking science fiction screenplay

Make films out of each series, with a huge crossover movie at the end of it all to defeat the big bad.

;)

I think once the dust settles, and the "Ts and Is" are all taken care of, they approach Pine again under the pretense that those within the company who acted in bad faith are no longer there. Kurtzman may even have a sit-down, himself.

Captain Nog is put in charge of the Enterprise E that is equipped with fighter craft and has to team up with Riker and the Titan to stop Khan from uniting the Borg and Dominion in order to destroy Bajor because deep inside the planet the Providers live. Jason

-I'd like to see the Kelvin crew again. Sulu on the Excelsior has been suggested, and I love the idea of a post-5ym Kirk and Spock movie, them being reunited on a mission without the rest of the crew - that could be really interesting - take a different direction to the old movieverse. I know DSC has just done it but why not kill two birds with one stone and have them brought to the Prime 25th century - Kirk and Spock back again (in a slightly different fashion!) and Spock could visit Vulcan. I like the idea someone suggested that the DSC Enterprise sets could be use for the Enterpise-A

Or both - divide the action between the Enterprise and Excelsior?

Some Pike/Spock TV movies starring Anson Mount and Ethan Peck would be great

I wonder how a completely new crew would fare? No returning characters, some played by Hollywood A-Listers?

After it ended I hoped that Voyager would follow TNG into the movies. A mega crossover would be spectacular.

The key to pretty much all of the movies (even if IV is set on a Bird of Prey) is that they are all focused around the crew of an Enterprise - should that be changed up?

Set between TMP and TWOK.
Recast original characters. Be age appropriate.
Deep space exploration.
Possible conflicts :
  • No revenge plots.
  • No rehash of previous adversaries.
  • Kirk and Crew try to free AI controlled society.
  • Kirk and crew fight to survive some natural disaster.

Something that crosses the boundaries of generations and timelines involving characters from every incarnation of Trek, anti-time, subspace anomolies, the Q Continuum, Talosians, the mycelial network, tribbles and a drink at Quark's.

But no Section 31. That would be too much. ;)

Just for a change, tell the story of Surak, how he influenced Vulcan society to control emotion and pursue logic. Use Spock’s World as a starting point.

I mean, we can have another crew in another ship in another desperate space battle to save the galaxy again, but I think we can do better.

A movie about an all new cast wanted by the Federation.

- A Ferengi who's an honorable thief. Swindles and steals from the corrupt and rich to give to the poor.

- A Klingon who circumvents the personality traits of Klingons.

- A romulian.

- A changeling. Possibly 1 of the 100.
