    Spoilers First Reviews

The Acolyte was actually the second highest viewed show on Disney+ in 2024. The Haters didn't scare away any viewers nor contribute to its cancellation.

The shows will succeed on viewership alone and that's up to the individual. Ultimately, the vocal few (myself included) are not that persuasive.

And it wasn't "the haters" that got The Acolyte canceled. They are irrelevant riff-raff. The Acolyte was canceled because of the cost overruns. Toxic fan babies would love to believe they have that kind of power and influence, but the people who make the decisions aren't even aware that they...

i'm worried the haters are going to win. Like they did with Acolyte. The cancellation might not have been because of the noisy detractors , but they most certainly were cheering about it. I hope we get that third season announcement for SFA soon

Spoilers Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

You don't have to defend your thoughts on the episode. Disney didn't renew. That says plenty. Of course, there are one off cases, where the studios were wrong with cancellations such as Alien Nation and Firefly, but generally, they cancel stuff because the audience numbers aren't there.

Marvel also tried to cater to a different audience that they hoped would show up but never did. I agree that the shows were never made for nerds, but they are the ones that consistently showed up. So pissing them off is just not the best idea. Though the term nerds has expanded so much from...

The thing is - your franchise's built in audience is the first and only guaranteed audience. So you have to go & expand from there. MARVEL studios road to success was taking their heroes (Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America,...) - and being really, really faithful to the core identity (!) of them...

    The Artificial Intelligence Thread

I'm currently having to reject some recommendations that I've previously rejected. I'm also getting pushed a lot of stuff that's in languages such as Turkish and Korean of which I have no knowledge. It almost feels like YouTube wants me to cancel my subscription.

What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Once The Partidge Family was canceled in 1974 a lot of music-driven character shows disappeared. After the end of the '60s and the conclusion of Vietnam and Watergate the cultural atmosphere in America changed and things got more cynical and a lot less bright and peppy. Star Wars reversed a...

...mind. And i want them to succeed. Maybe i have 'positivity bias'. I went into S31 with an open mind, and okay, it wasn't great. I have raised my expectations of SFA after seeing the positive buzz. I don't get why people want a show they claim to love, Trek, to fail , and call for its...

I'm holding off on giving a take until the fifth episode. I want to see something first. Then I'll give my take on the first five episodes in one go. That's my plan. Plus, regardless of wherever I end up landing, I don't feel like dealing with the muck every week. Been there, done that.

It's effectively like running a government with the mentality you only need 25% of the vote, call an election, then get gobsmacked that you need to win over near 50%. Your average critic is going to be a generalist. Their target audience just isn't the existing Star Trek fanbase, and they have...

I feel genuinely bad writing this. It's not a bash, nor will it ever turn into a bash. It's just self-awareness.... But, after watching the trailers, reading articles, etc. I feel as though this is the first Star Trek production in franchise history that simply isn't for me. Even LD, which it...

The RAM crisis and the PC apocalypse

nope. They're only continuing the DDR4 production for a contract they have no way out of and it's server memory. So being server memory it will be registered ECC which isn't supported on consumer platforms. Those that do support DDR4 ecc (i3, Ryzen Pro) use unregistred. the also article...
