I think the show ironically would have been worst without him. He I think clearly knows Star Wars in and out better than Headland. Like I said. He doesn't deserve much if any blame for the shows failure. I like the guy.
It’s looking like it’s less a comment on the shows themselves and more the contraction of the streaming bubble.
IIRC, it was outright stated that Discovery was getting too expensive to continue producing.
“Prematurely” as in the show runners were not aware that CBS/Paramount were going to cancel their shows, and had to quickly change things around in their final episodes at the last minute because of that.
What do you mean "prematurely"?
The days of shows going on and into eternity are over. P+ is drawing a line in the sand as a cost control measure.
Five seasons is a VERY good run nowadays.
...as I’m not privy to their accounting.
You mean Skydance.
And three of those four shows were prematurely cancelled, and the other one only went for the 3 seasons it was contractually obligated for, and not renewed for more. Plus the cancellation of Prodigy. Take that information how you will.
What do you think were Filoni's contributions to The Acolyte over the wishes of Headland? What do you think Headland would have done without Filioni that would have been more successful? Where do you feel the he steered The Acolyte in such a way to where it was canceled by Disney whereas The...
Totally agree. Once Roz was brought back in I think the show was poised to really take off. Also guest spots for Cheers alumni was being planned. Sadly George Wendt passed away so that one will never happen. Would have been great for Norm to walk into Mahoneys and everyone say Norm! Lol
It felt for me like seasons 12 and 13, it was such an organic return in my opinion.
Yeah it needed more to really develop the characters and since it was telling a story over an actual year 10 episodes for it just made no sense. It can't have been that expensive to produce considering it was...
It's so good to hear that Enterprise has improved with age for some viewers. :)
I came to ENT late, binge-watched the first 2 1/2 seasons. I think I benefited from seeing the character arcs and overall themes all together. Plus I was not part of the Internet fan community at that point, and I...
I think Disney was an effort to globalize DW to a larger degree. I'm not sure that it was failing but I would agree that it was dwindling. But there's a difference between that and failing.
I've often thought the pinnacle of DW's global footprint in terms of social awareness was Day of the...
Is it? I was getting the be under the impression that at this point it was failing, and barely surviving on just enough of the hardcore fanbase to keep it on the right side of cancelation.
Wasn't the Disney deal and whatever next deal they make with someone else, their last desparate attempts...
...become *more* prevalent because of the state of financial affairs in broadcast television. (See: Red Dwarf The Promised Land, and the cancellation of its next special over at U&)
It’s a sort of life support option.
Doctor Who really shouldn’t be as susceptible — it’s entire cast can be...
4Kids never dubbed Dragon Ball Z.
The first Western English dub was produced by Funimation partnered with Saban Entertainment who hired Ocean Productions in Canada to do the Dubbing. That lasted for about 50 episodes (edited down from 67).
The Saban/Ocean Dub is also where most of the early...
I didn't know the man personally and neither did you. There are various versions of the friction between him and McFadden out there. She has never made a direct accusation and he has never been charged with anything.
Since we have no idea what really happened behind closed doors, I prefer to...
Part 5
“Daria Morgendorffer, please report to the principal’s office,” Ms. Li announced straight after Homeroom.
Daria sighed. She knew that was going to happen.
“How are you feeling?” Ms. Li asked when Daria had sat down.
“My best friend has been kidnapped! How do you think I’m feeling?”...
If they bring back the original cast and creator, maybe. The show is an inverse of a reboot in a way - the main characters (a balancing act of archetypes) are the single grounding factor in new Earths that can be wildly different. Seasons 1 and 2 did excel, and some of 4 and 5 hold up well and...
