Spoilers All Things STAR WARS - News, Speculation & Spoilers Thread

Perhaps but Filoni was working with Disney before getting promoted Chief Creative Officer. Do I think he had a hand in the day to day making of the show, No I don't think that but Filoni knows all about Star Wars. Makes sense he would be a guy people turn to for advice when it comes to lore and he wouldn't have any ideas and opinons for the show once he got his promotion. I don't think he deserves any real major blame or anything for it but not sure why it's wrong to think he might have had some input and influence on the show.

What do you think were Filoni's contributions to The Acolyte over the wishes of Headland? What do you think Headland would have done without Filioni that would have been more successful? Where do you feel the he steered The Acolyte in such a way to where it was canceled by Disney whereas The Mandalorian and Ahsoka were both renewed? (Even The Book of Boba Fett has been quietly abandoned as opposed to being announced as canceled by Disney.)

I am not trying to blame him. Even if he deserved any blame it would be just a small part. Not exactly a reason to not hire him. I actually think he might do a good job. My argument isn't that he is going to do a bad job. Just that it might not be enough to bring back fans who left because going with a insider will feel like more of the same to many people.

Not to mention I know lots of fans are not as big a fan of the cartoons as others. On the other hand a big splashy new name might bring in excitement. Granted the new person could also just as easy to do a terrible job but I am thinking more in terms of Disney trying make the brand more popular again and get it back to where it was. A new person has to prove they can do the job. A insider though not only has to prove they can do the job but they also have to deal with more cynical distrust that they won't be as bad as the person who they replaced. Seems like a taller hill to climb for success.
A majority of people don't pay attention to who the studio presidents are. Outside of Star Wars fandom, the president of Lucasfilm isn't going to be noticed by any in the audience. Even within fandom, the more casual fans who are the bread and butter studios crave probably care less if the position is held by someone named Dave Filoni or Splashy New Name. Besides, a majority of the work Filoni has done for Star Wars has been positively received amongst fandom and general audiences alike. He wouldn't have been promoted to Chief Creative Officer otherwise, nor would he have even been in consideration to be a studio's president.

TFA I feel is the best of the sequels, in terms of charm and potential that...well where that goes with that last two is up to each person.

I do believe TLJ is the most beautiful-looking of all the Star Wars films, though.

I feel like people like TFA for the same reason they like Picard season 3. A bunch of familiar plot elements and some familiar faces thrown together to give us something comfortable and familiar but not particularly noteworthy.

TFA was made the way that it was for 1 reason: to personally satisfy JJ Abrams' own childhood Nostalgia.

However, it still very much adheres to the 'Mythological Tone Poem' stylistic structure (even if one has to dig slightly deeper to recognize that fact), which is the primary reason that it actually ends up working in the end.

Eh, I guess. For me it does a better job of the camaraderie with the cast that was missing a little with TLJ. Yeah, it evoked ANH but the feel was different.

TLJ is certainly the best looking of the trilogy, but it is a long, slow, joyless slog.

TROS is.... there.

TFA falls apart once Starkiller Base is introduced, but it's still the most fun to watch.

I feel like this sequence is the best part of the film, if not the trilogy.

Not for me. I kept getting taken out of the movie and back into the real world because of all of the parallels to ANH. I just kept thinking, "I've seen all this before".
