The curse(?) of small universe syndrome

Worth it just to hear Ewan McGregor say "now more than ever, we need the Jedi" as Boston's More than a Feeling starts to soar.

    Brian Brophy didn’t return?

Sir this is a Brian Brophy Wendy's

    Saavik falls asleep

That would explain for the long look to Saavik “uh thanks for the finger rub thing”

The curse(?) of small universe syndrome

No. Classic Darwinian Evolution did not take conscious thought into account as a driver in evolution. It was easy to assume in the past that life forms did not take their own conscious decisions in how their breeding choices would affect future generations. That might be mostly well and good...

    Saavik falls asleep

"Script wasn't written exactly the way I now see it in my head so I don't like it and need to broadcast that to others" message received. Anyway, I was watching TSFS yesterday oddly enough, and noticed an interesting thing I hadn't payed attention to. When the other Vulcans bow their heads in...

Spoilers ST: Khan by K. Beyer, D. Mack & N. Meyer Review Thread

I finally finished it. I enjoyed it. it was a little uneven, mostly due to the fact Khan is an idiot. He bumbles from mistake of mistake, most of which are his and avoidable. He disposes of his own people like used toilet paper. This can't be the same kind that inspired all this loyalty. I did...

Shouldn’t Areel Shaw have been disqualified?

Most of what he did was inconsistent with his purported ideals. This is the guy that wrote Pretty Maids All In A Row, a movie about teachers grooming students to have sex with them, pretending he was some feminist icon a few years later. For a long time the hype was more real than the reality...

What civilization/species in Star Trek is, in your opinion, most evil?

I sometimes think it's a studio decision. They think of the Borg and Khan as Star Trek's number one enemy and have to vamp them forever. I suspect it's why it's hard getting a Superman movie or show without Lex Luthor in it, too. There isn't any new angle on the Borg. (technically there are...

Why no actual saucer shape ships?

not a Starfleet ship but some Kzinti ships are saucers. In an RP I was in based on the beginning of the warp era, it was those early Earth-Kzin conflicts that led to Earth adopting the saucer, since they obviously didn't get it from the Vulcans.

What’s that on your forehead, Gul?

Cardassians are actually a trigender species. In order to mate, the third gender, a small spoon shaped being called the Shelmikedmu is passed from forehead recess to forehead recess on the other two mates to pass genetic information and ensure pregnancy. The larger the Shelmkedmu the more likely...

Was Star Trek one of Hollywood's greatest losers of 2025?

ENT season2 had something like 4 to 5 million viewers on average. With Paramount Plus cliaming 79,000,000 subscrubers and SNW heavily advertised, I suspect more people saw season 3 of that show than ENT season 2.

They gotta big boomba. Very Big boomba bossa

Some of it depends on birth rate. If it turns out that advenced civs just gradually give up on reproduction we’re fucked , very long term.

They gotta big boomba. Very Big boomba bossa

I'll leave it to whoever comes along and cares at that point. At best they'll say "excellent.. more mass for the dyson swarm!

also the problem of how such a weapon would have been delivered. There's no icbm that can launch 30tons, so one would have to design one or repurpose a medium-heavy lift launch vehicle into one. I don't think a B-52 could have carried sundial, but I might be wrong. In any case, it would have...

Has Star Trek taught you about culture?

yes. many. Not sure about Trek channels, though.

What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

controversial opinion: TOS got it right. Starships shouldn't have so many windows. Or any. Starfleet ships while not outright warships, are often ships engaged in war, not Royal Carribean cruises. Yes I realize the windows are probably not glass, except when they're clearly shown to be glass...

Was Star Trek one of Hollywood's greatest losers of 2025?

comparing a joke that went flat with the Sweeney advert is hyperbole at best. Anyway, Section 31 stunk. I'm surprised it even got 16%. Tommy Wiseau could have made a better Star Trek movie than whoever created that thing. But SNW season 3 was good. I don't think as a franchise Star Trek is...
