The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

The new version of Prison Break has been greenlit. Hopefully it’s as entertaining as the first two seasons of the original but that they know this time that’s the time to quit:

Yes, Facebook should never be a replacement for a real website, but on the flip side of the coin, a website is rather useless it it's one of those cookie-cutter Wix(?) sites that ALL LOOK THE SAME, just photos, color scheme, and text differences. And people use this laziness to be lazy about hat they put on the website. And many buttons don't work because they somehow managed for fuck up the cookie cutter.

Well, it’s set in the early 19th century which is kind of a problem…

So, two episodes in, and I've already decided to give up on it. I feel that it's not really interesting enough to merit all that violence. It's basically violence and torture porn. I already had difficulties watching Peaky Blinders due to the violence.

Between Taylor Sheridan and Steven Knight, it feels like there's this belief that Prestige TV needs to be these violent productions pushing the envelope for what's acceptable while desensitizing viewers. I miss the days when things were merely suggested which often would be more powerful than the acts themselves.

Filming for the pilot episode was completed in June, and they left it until today to get approval or announce it. Filming will likely begin soon. The new Buffy show will likely get approval or announce it in December or early 2026, and they'll start filming from there.

I don’t know if this is a reboot per se but it must be the eleventy-billionth drama about the Kennedy dynasty:

I kind of like how the focus will be on the dad and not JFK. I mean people know who he is but I don't feel like his story has ever been told all that much.

Who's played the Settlers of Catan board games? Netflix is going to turn it into live-action and animated shows and movies somehow. And possibly even a game show.

Netflix is chasing so much, but it feels to me like these won't get the attention Netfilix thinks they'll get, getting 1 season at most, like a lot of Netflix shows.

And speaking of the Netflix Original label being replaced, it's possibly even more confusing now, because you have the netflix logo in the lower right as it's always been, to denote that you're on the platform itself, though the exactly same logo is now being used for those Netflix exclusives. So great job, Netflix. Previously before the Netflix Original logo, I think they were simply using an N, which was much better. I wish they would go back to that.
