Wow I missed that announcement. At long last! Fantastic news.I just bought it off Amazon. Yay! Now next week the Strange New Worlds soundtrack is out.
Qobuz as @cal888 linked above allows purchase of full PCM 24bit uncompressed drm free files. I have purchased my copy from there.Dang. Of all the allusions I'd love to mention, but I'll just say that they're doing (hopefully deftly-applied, low-compression) compressed downloads versus a plastic platter that has low fidelity to begin with but also worsens in quality with each playback thanks to the power of physics and needle scratchin', as opposed to an exponentially smaller plastic disc that has uncompressed audio across the audible bandwidth range humans can perceive. (Compression generally starts with wiping out any frequencies beyond the human range, since Fido and Mittens won't care either way - it's a fun process to read up on the how of the concept...)
Mine as well, and that is the most triumphant fanfare I have heard to date at the end there. The addition of more horns makes it sound amazing,"Make it so" is definitely my favorite track from this album.
Yup, all of those pieces are edits of previously-released cues, so there's no point in going through the expense of paying for them. I remember Matalas mentioning there were plenty of union issues just trying to get the set as is finally released.^
Pretty much. The opening title music is a combination of the first few notes of the First Contact opening titles, and the last few notes of Jeff Russo's PIC S1 theme (which is also the Goldsmith theme, but anyway).
The end credits is literally a truncated version of the FC End Credits. They all use the original recordings and I think to add them to the album would involve too many royalties/union issues.Whereas the finale end credits is a new recording of the Goldsmith End Credits theme (the Nemesis version I believe actually judging by the start of it?) conducted by Barton so is easier to include. I think.
