If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which one?

Re: If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which

I want to say that I'd like to see the Enterprise-E crossover with David Weber's Honor Harrington series of novels (the Honorverse series), but there's nothing I can say about what that would entail that wouldn't involve spoilers for an excellent series that you should read if you haven't, so I'll leave that alone.

Instead, I'll suggest an epic 3 way crossover involving artificial intelligences, running along the idea that finding ancient tech from nuBSG's Cylons led to the Knight Foundation creating K.A.R.R. and K.I.T.T. in the 1980s, and that their work later played a role in both Richard Daystrom and Noonian Soong's research. And the consequence of all of that. :techman:

Re: If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which

Since Knight Rider was a Glen Larson show, wouldn't it work better to say that the Knight Foundation used technology obtained from the Colonial fleet that arrived at Earth in 1980? Or maybe from the remains of the Cylons that landed on Halloween that year -- that would explain the red sensor sweeping back and forth.

Probably. But there were Cylons on Earth in the distant past at the end of nuBSG, and I prefer nuBSG to the original, so... ;)

Re: If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which

Distant past as in 150,000 years ago, IIRC. There's no way any high technology could survive a fraction of that length of time.

Besides, Knight Rider was a lowbrow, cheesy show, so it seems preferable to pair it with something on a comparable level of cheese.

Why do you think I connected it with Star Trek?

:::runs, hides:::

You're probably right. But Cylon tech is more advanced than ours - who says how long it would survive, or what steps they might have taken to preserve a cache of it somewhere? Besides, if people can eat 250,000 year old wooly mammoth steak, I'm not quick to discount much of anything's ability to survive. ;)

Three words:

Return to Tomorrow

------------

Captain's Log. Stardate 4768.3. The Enterprise is in orbit above a planet whose surface, our sensors tell us, is devoid of all life, a world destroyed and dead for at least a half million years

Re: If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which

Combine Trek with Futurama, whenever the Enterprise visits Earth it looks just like New New York. Complete with robots and suicide booths.

:)

Re: If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which

Enterprise gets caught in another timewarp and winds up in a slow decaying orbit through Earth's atmosphere. Only International Rescue can save the day when the ship precariously comes to rest on the Eiffel Tower. Stand by for action!

James Doohan was very briefly in one of the Knight Rider movies as himself - mentioned as being in Star Trek XI! :rommie:

It's interesting what kinds of crossovers people can devise; just last night I read one that was Firefly/General Hospital.

Re: If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which

If any Scifi universe would work as an alternate timeline of Star Trek it's Stargate.

Stargate has earlier stages of development of basically the same technology, they're morally very similar. The storytelling style focusing on adventure with moral debate just meshes much better than a show like Star Wars which is inherently a Space Western that needs to be strictly adventure and have discrete presences of good and evil.

You could even plausibly say the Nox and Asgard exist in the Trekverse and just never interacted with humans there was a timeline split in the time of the Chase aliens that resulted in far fewer varieties of humanoid aliens.

There were a number of times when I was watching the Stargate series that it felt like I was watching TOS.

There has been a crossover between Knight Rider and Star Trek:

Re: If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which

^I consider that an in-joke, not a crossover.

Re: If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which

Farscape. I want to see Moya and crew come out of the Bajor wormhole and hang out at DS9.

Re: If you could see a crossover with one other SciFi universe, which

Blade Runner, so Deckard could "retire" all the hologram characters.

There would be a thin trail of clues that would lead the audience to suspect that Deckard just might be a hologram himself.

:)

A subtle H on the forehead and a propensity for fainting during exams, perhaps? :)

Exactly this. I can totally see Sisko versus the Peacekeepers. DS9 might totally work with Peacekeepers in place of the Cardassians, and Scarrans in place of the Jem'Hadar.
