It's a couple of months old, but it's not as if any new developments re: Billy Dee have happened since this was recorded.

I think it's almost a given that Lando will show up at some point in the sequel trilogy. Although I think Ep 8 or 9 would probably be more ideal, with 7 already seeming a bit overcrowded as it is.

It's possible he's doing a cameo and Abrams is keeping it a secret.

It's not directly Episode VII-related, but some fans have gotten their hands on the newly-released hardcover Visual Guide to Rebels and while it has no real plot spoilers to future episodes it does reveal that certain characters will be in the series.

Im really looking forward to Rebels... I just today rewatched the clone wars movie, and while i did not like it in 2008, i found, now that ive watched the entire series, and am more used to its storytelling style, the movie was actually very well done. I hope Rebels lives up to CW.

Yeah I like that they have so many distinct Imperial characters as well. It looks like this could be a much more interesting and fleshed out world than people are expecting.

Of course given that it's the team behind TCW, it's doubtful they would have dumbed down or simplified things too much.

With Dave Filoni in charge I doubt the show will be too sanitized nor too kid-friendly. Disney or not, they have grown adult fans to cater to. The Clone Wars had its cheesy, juvenile moments but it could be rather dark and complex for an animated series airing on the Cartoon Network before 11 p.m.

With respect to Rebels, an important milestone will be how the first on-screen death is portrayed, and, I'm almost sorry to say, just how straight the stormtroopers can shoot.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Just based off the "mandalorian" character, I don't think I'll bother with Rebels. At least TCW basically involved adult characters, it seems like half the main cast of Rebels are teenagers. That said, at least Rebels probably won't use Jar Jar, something which made me stop my attempt to watch TCW very soon after I started (he got A WHOLE EPISODE almost immediately, that had to have been mandated by Lucas, and made me give up on the show). I'm not saying Rebels will be bad, but I'm not really interested in watching a show about a bunch of plucky teens in the SW universe (Leia and Luke in Episode IV don't count, even if they were supposed to be 19), even if the graffiti artist in Mandalorian armor didn't make me see red.

When it comes to Episode VII, it would be cool to get Lando in the movie, even as a cameo. Hopefully he shows up in one of the new movies.

I'm going to check out Rebels because I didn't give TCW the benefit of the doubt and I ended up regretting that, but so far Sabine does look like potentially the most annoying main character.

What now? Kanan looks like he's meant to be in his mid 20's, Hera seems more like mid-to-late 30's, Zeb's supposed to be an old warhorse, there's no telling how old that crotchety old droid is and then you have Kallus and the Inquisitor who are obviously *not* teenagers. Only Ezra is specifically said to be a teenager (14 IIRC) and while Sabine is also probably in her late teens, she could just as easily be in her early 20's.

So if your concept of half is 1 or 2 out of a total of 8 characters, then sure, half of them are teenagers....
And you learnt maths from where now?

The imperial troop transport is a cool nod to one of the old vintage toys. (Although it's showed up in some Star Wars comics here and there)

That it is. And I have to give ample credit to the producers for taking an old Kenner toy from about 35 years ago and putting it on the screen, albeit the small one. An underrated Star Wars toy that I never had when I was a little kid, and quite a cool design.

I have vivid memories of coveting that toy as a kid, but I never got one. Not a complaint, mind you. My parents were ridiculously generous when it came to Star Wars toys. I had the Falcon and the AT-AT right away. But somehow the Imperial Troop Transport (it was RC as I recall, yes?) slipped through the cracks, along with the Dewback.

Well, I've never heard of Kanan, Zeb or Kallus. Ezra, however, is a young teen, and the main character. As for the woman in mandalorian armor (she is not, in any way, an actual mandalorian, even by Lucas's horrible standards) it doesn't matter her age. They made a streetwise graffiti artist, and randomly gave her mandalorian armor, probably as a middle finger to people who like Boba Fett or the mandalorians in general. It doesn't matter if she's 13 or 33. She alone would make me avoid the show. Admittedly the middle school aged main character would also keep me away even without the graffiti artist, but they are both horrible.

I believe it was an RC toy, yes. The main RC toys of the classic Kenner era were the Jawa Sandcrawler, a Landspeeder and an electronic R2-D2 toy but the Transport might also have been battery-powered.

I used to have that Troop Transport toy as a kid, but don't remember it being RC. Although it's possible they released a later version that was.

Ah, I see now. It wasn't RC but it did have electronic sound effects.
