Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Or maybe all the CG was that quality and there was only a greater concentration of it at the end of the film.

I'm not usually one to complain about CGI, but all the stuff with the flying Sentinels and the stadium at the end just looked really bad and incomplete to me. And more like the kind of quality we saw 10 or 15 years ago.

Samuel L.'s watching the Wimbledon men's final at the moment.

Wonder why he's in England. Anything filming here at the moment ?

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Tom Cruise was in town to talk with JJ Abrams about Mission: Impossible 5, but that didn't stop rumors ranging from a cameo in Star Wars to... Harrison Ford is out and Tom Cruise is in. :guffaw:

Age of Ultron?

I think primary photography has wrapped for that, and it's probably too early for pick ups.

I was thinking he might be shooting something a little more Mace Windu-ish...

Still filming Age of Ultron. Hemsworth was in SW19 as well, does that mean you think he'll be in the new Wars film too?

‘Star Wars’ Sets Short Hiatus As Two Actors Join Film

Some tidbits, none that earth-shattering, have trailed out of the Star Wars production, as they’ve scheduled a two-week break in August and added two newbies to the cast.

The two-week hiatus in August was called as a result of schedule adjustments after star Harrison Ford broke his ankle last month. We’re told that Ford, who is undergoing physical therapy for the next few weeks, has been recovering well and is expecting to return to the set soon.

The two actors:

One is Crystal Clarke, an American actress studying in Glasgow with both stage and screen acting experience who will appear in The Moon and The Sun with Pierce Brosnan next year. Also on board is British actor Pip Anderson, who is rather athletic, having recently demonstrated his remarkable physical skills bouncing around in a Spider-Man ad for Sony.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

This is one very big cast. And interesting how many younger actors there are as well. Which suggests to me that these are all either a group of Jedi in training, or perhaps a bunch of kids from an Academy that get sucked into the story somehow...

You really are determined not to let me make two and two equal five aren't you ?
:)

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

^The only thing I'd want to see more than a Steven Moffat Star Wars movie would be a Joss Whedon Star Wars movie.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

I'm thinking that the people in the picture and first announcement are the major actors whose characters the movie/s focus on, while all of the people announced since are probably playing smaller supporting roles.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

There's still debate in fan circles over whether or not Billy Dee Williams will actually appear in Episode VII given the actor's public willingness to reprise the role of Lando if J.J. and the producers want him. He hasn't been announced, of course, and that's led a lot of people to believe he's been deliberately omitted from the new film, but quite frankly we don't know everybody who's appearing or making cameos in the movies and probably won't for a long time.

Last-minute cast additions before principal photography wraps aren't exactly a rarity in Hollywood.

Plus depending on the context of the appearance it could be a second unit shoot without the need for him to come to the UK and thus be easier to sneak under the radar.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

There's also the possibility (however remote), that an appearance by someone like Lando might be an important plot point that they'd want to keep under wraps. Like Nimoy in STID.
