Millions of beings with the ability to kill dozens, if not hundreds of baseline humans. And level cities.

And their population is ever growing.

Honestly, all Magneto needs to do is the same thing Daryl Revok did in "Scanners": Secretly give out drugs/medication to pregnant women all over the world that would active the X-Gene in their fetuses so that the entire next generation would all be mutants. Instead of wiping out humans, just gradually increase mutant numbers until their rise is inevitable.

During Trask's meeting with Congress, I think one of the congressmen mentioned that the current mutant population (as of 1973) was about one tenth of one tenth of one percent of the human population. It seems like mutants are becoming more and more common as time progresses. I wonder if that's because more mutants are being born on average with each new generation, or if it's just related to the overall growth in human population. There were nearly four billion people in 1973 and we just passed seven billion a couple of years ago.

I admit I'm not so good with the maths. What would one tenth of one tenth of a percent of the global population be in 1973? And if we assume that mutants are still being born at that rate in 2014, what would their population be today?

My Maths might be wrong but 1 tenth = 10%

So one tenth (10%) of 4bn would be 400 000 000 and 1 tenth (10%) of that would be 40 000 000, Don't know why they couldn't have just said 1% to begin with. (If my Maths is right)

What about a secretly mutant Spermbank?

Selling nothing but Magneto.

In the comics the Children of the Corn hair would be a dead giveaway.

One thing I never got was why there were only Mutant Hate groups seen in X-Men. There should be Mutant worshiping cults out there who get into open riots with the Mutant-Haters and Mutant Cultists trying to infiltrate the Government/Military/Police to try and protect their "saviors" or whatever.

Kind of like how Apocalypse had humans who worshiped him back in his time.

1962.

Ask any minority active back then how they were treated by decent ordinary people draped in bedsheets burning crosses on their lawns.

There just wasn't enough porn back then, that this behaviour seemed like a good idea to waste a couple hours every week.

Today if you ask even the worst racist if they want lynch the new black family that moved into the neighbour hood, or jerk off to biracial porn, they're going to chose the warmer option with the orgasm every damn time.

I mean right from the start in the first movie we should have seen Mutant-Worshipers and other Pro-Mutant Advocates aside from Xavier. HUMAN advocates.

This comes up in the comics as well, I mean Jonah Jameson of all people is a strong proponent of treating mutants like people in the comics.

Heck, a great plot would be an anti-Mutant guy getting killed off by a Pro-Mutant human and mutants getting blamed anyways.

There were people against the cure in the third film. They weren't all mutants.

But isn't that waht X-Men did draw an analogy to a minority being treated poorly by the majority? And how different groups in that minority feel they should try and gain equality some do it peacefully others more violently.

I just think its ironic that a mutant with the power of being able to access low ceiling places is the leader against all the mutants. Why is it always self-hate that drives haters.

This version of Trask isn't the only one. Though in the comics Trask had mutant children.

In fact, I think the movie version of Stryker was based on Trask.

There's also Graydon Creed, the son of Sabretooth and Mystique. He hates mutants half out of jealousy (his whole family have awesome powers, he can't do anything) and half due to the abuse he suffered from growing up with Sabretooth as a dad (the comics are inconsistent with this, sometimes it's stated he was raised by Sabretooth, other times he was raised and abandoned by Mystique).

But to answer Macleod's question, mutants aren't like normal minorities. They aren't differentiated due to ethnicity or sexual orientation or skin tone, they'd differentiated by having superhuman abilities. There should be people who'd worship them as Angelic beings sent from Heaven (like some people do to Angel) or Gods on Earth or the Second Coming and stuff.

Instead all we see are bigots and racist lunatics.

Magneto only proved Trask right and on camera no less and we know that even after Trask was killed someboody else took over the Sentinal program. And there's no way the governement can deny the exsistance of mutants.

What's worse is that while it's nice to see Sunspot, Bishop and Blink, we don't get to know them, so really why should we care if they're killed off and twice at that? And really the exsistance of Bishop should mean that they survived, but we don't leanr his history or even in this continuality his from the future.

But to answer Macleod's question, mutants aren't like normal minorities.

Subnormal minorities? The minorist minority into the collective assemblage of all minorities?

I like it when Chelsea Handler looks at the camera and reminds us that "All professional Basketball players are rapists."

So it's wrong to hate normal black people, but it's right to hate 7 foot tall rapist professional basketball players who just happen to coincidentally mostly be black.

If a seven foot tall athlete wants to rape you, whether you are man or a woman, unless you have a gun there is very little you can do to stop him (or her.).

Laws must be put in place, and vigilant citizens must militarize patrolling the streets to stop these giant ripped millionaires from taking our... LINES MUST BE DRAWN BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!

I always got the sense that the truly powerful mutants were a distinct minority within the mutant population. It was a lot more likely to have a useless power than to be able to lift sports arenas or impersonate presidents. Plus, the few really powerful mutants were spending most of their time battling each other (Magneto's brotherhood versus the X-Men). That tends to limit any revolutions in the short-term.

Side note: it's a bit hard to project mutant population growth when you don't know how many humans have the potential to father mutant children.

Given DOFP, the future seemed pretty bleak when the sentinals started to go after people who had the mutant gene and could pass it onto children even if they had no mutant power.

Yeah, I think it was that simple, they rounded up EVERYONE because they knew mutants could be born from two non-mutant people.

The real problem is that there are at least two cases of Mutants giving birth to completely human children.

Magneto's granddaughter Luna and Sabertooths Kid Graydon Creed.

Mutants were "made" by spacegods called celestials a million years ago.

They took early man and divided it into three species, Eternals, Deviants, and ordinary man who would day become gods themselves thorough mutant development.

So the plan is Planet X.

But that was a million years ago and those guys were dicks.

Magneto's grand-daugther (Quicksilver's kid) had an explanation: She was a hybrid. Her dad is a mutant, and her mom is an Inhuman. Somehow, the super-genes from both parents canceled each other out and turned Luna into a Human.

QS was pissed over this and was about to douse her in the Terrigen Mists (which give the Inhumans their powers) when Lockjaw (the Dog Inhuman) told him "Hey, I was a normal guy until I breathed the mists and look at what happened to me. Want that for your kid?" and QS realized the horror of what he was about to do.
