Note to self: get a new bumper sticker - What Would Metatron Do?

That was a pretty emotional finale. At least neither one of them died or went to hell. Gadreel's gone; I would've liked to see his character again, but at least toward the end, he realized his loyalty to Metatron was misplaced.

I had a feeling that Dean would turn into some kind of demon; he's now Crowley's hitman/knight/whatever.

So, now we know what next season will be about.

I'm looking forward to it. :bolian:

Whew...the finale was good. I hope that this is the last of Metatron we ever see. He was a worse villain than the Leviathan were. DemonDean should be interesting as long as it isn't dragged out too long.

I haven't seen it yet, but... Dean and Crowley? I think a lot of people have been wishing for that for a while. :rommie:

Five seconds of peace and quiet, and then: "Are you as bored as I am?"

    Depends on relative heights.

Supernatural Wish List: Our Hopes for Dean in Season 10

Crowley as mentor: I love Crowley (Mark Sheppard) and I truly believe he loves Dean. And Dean has made his fair share of enemies over his lifetime - many of whom won't care about his newly lost humanity. So who better to have in your corner to both protect you and teach you about your new demon powers than the King of Hell, himself? The duo has such a great rapport and Crowley, who was partially cured by Sam in Season 8, has the (after)life experiences to help Dean resist going all Big Bad on us. While there have been episodes this season where Crowley's presence seemed a little forced, having Dean become a demon will give Crowley a new-found purpose next season. Not to mention, in retrospect, Crowley's human blood addiction might have been important after all, foreshadowing things Dean will consider or fall victim to in Season 10.

Dean to be cured... eventually: Last season we discovered there is a way to exorcise a demon. Of course, the process almost killed Sam. But if Moose were to find a way to complete the process safely, he would not only could get his brother back, but he could also finally complete the trials and close the gates of Hell. Win-win, right? (Though, if the gates of Hell were to be closed, I would hope Crowley would get stuck topside with the boys.) And while I really do pray that Dean get his humanity back, I don't want a quick fix like they threw together with Human Castiel. We've seen the Winchesters go through so much, but never anything on this scale. I'd love to see not only the way Dean were to be effected by the change, but also explore its effects on his and Sammy's relationship (which was just getting better. Can't we ever catch a break?!).

Holy Hell: After Sam and Dean, my favorite pair to watch together is Dean and Cas (Misha Collins), hands down. Now that Cas has admitted just how much he wants to stay an angel, I'm betting he'll find a way next season. How interesting would it be to watch an angel and a demon team up as hunters. Though, this could lead to Sam, the only remaining human on Team Free Will, being shut out of the big fights yet again. But I'm sure they can find a way around that. Destiel, you're out. Holy Hell, you're in.

Powers: Immortality, super-strength, telekinesis, teleporting, spells - being a demon comes with its fair share of perks. And don't forget, Cain isn't just an average demon: He's a Knight of Hell and far more powerful than the run-of-the-mill monsters. If I were to venture a guess, I'd bet that means Dean will be similarly powerful. If Dean inherits even a few of Cain's special abilities - smiting, immunity and biokinesis - he'll be nearly invincible. Think of the benefits these powers could have for Team Free Will! And how fun would it be to see Dean getting to play and experiment with all his new abilities, like a kid in a (very dangerous and evil) candy store? Unfortunately, being a demon also means Dean will likely have to give up on all those salty foods he loves.

So with Dean being a demon now, does that mean he can leave his body and be a mist just like any other demon can?

Plus thought a demon was just a soul that was tortured till it turned black.
Some could say that when Dean was in hell back at end of season 3 that he was then a demon. Since his soul was in hell, was tortured and then tortured other people.

Yeah I laughed when one of the brothers died. Painfully predictable.

I was surprised that Metatron was defeated, though. I assumed that Season Ten would be about the brothers having to find God in hiding because he was the only one that could defeat Metatron.

Well, I thought that was an interesting twist. Now the question is whether Dean will be a minion of Crowley's or a new competitor. I'm reminded of my old theory that the show would end with one brother in charge of Heaven and one in charge of Hell. Now Dean is a Demon (possibly a Knight of Hell) and Heaven is leaderless. Hmm.

So Metatron is defeated, but that won't mean that the Gates of Heaven are opened. The Angels are still fallen and the dead are all still trapped in the waiting room. The Angels could all go back (single file) through the playground, but they still don't have their wings. The Angel Tablet has healed itself before, though, so they may be able to come up with a counterspell-- no doubt at some terrible cost to Sam. :rommie:

The REAL question is.... how many episodes before Sam and Dean are back together solving standalone cases like normal?

I'm gonna say two episodes. :p

Probably, but I find it interesting that every other demon was possessing a human host, but Dean will be possessing his own body.

I think the first 5-6 episodes will have Dean pretending to be human and hunting with Sam like normal.

Presumably Cain had his own body, so having the Mark of Cain must make you a different kind of demon somehow.

^That does appear to be the case.

I do hope they don't "fix" this too soon. It might be nice to actually show that Dean likes being a Knight of Hell; it does play to his strengths, after all.

His other strength was he NEVER wanted to be a "monster"...He even ordered "soul-less Sam" to kill him when he was turned into a vamp. What I hated about this episode was, I always thought that when you had a conjuring spell, that the entity being summoned couldn't resist and had to appear right at that instant. Yet Crowley was able to resist Sam summoning him and be able to turn Dean.

    Crowley didn't turn Dean.

And I imagine he's able to resist the summoning (though probably just temporarily) because in his position as King of Hell he's strong enough to do so.

    Mark Sheppard upped to regular

I think that this means that Dean will be Demonized for a large portion of the season. Crowley and Dean will be paired up while Sam and Cas are paired up looking for a way to fix Dean?

My impression was that they were compressing time a bit for the sake of TV, and that Sam was in the process of summoning but hadn't finished the spell.
