Orphan Black - Season 2 Discussion

While we've only glimpsed her in the previews for next weeks episode, Jennifer Fitzsimmons seems to have it pretty together. Granted to be a school teacher you can be intense, but I am picturing her as an elementary school teacher. We'll have to wait and see.

Is it a happy accident that she seems to have the same name as a collective of S.H.I.E.L.D. agent's on Coulsen 's bus, or cheeky design?

There have been plenty of people named Fitzsimmons. The Fitz and Simmons characters on Agents of SHIELD are a pun on the name Fitzsimmons, not the other way around.

"Fitz," after all, is a Norman prefix meaning "son of" -- as in Fitzroy, "son of the king," or Fitzpatrick or Fitzgerald or, of course, Fitzsimmons. It's less common to see it as a surname by itself, although there is a German surname Fitz with a different derivation.

On an unrelated note...will episode 3 ONCE AGAIN feature Felix's bum? Theone thing i don't like about Orphan Black is that they seem to force in some sex every episode, and it doesn't make the episode any better.

So new episode tonight :D We're going to get to meet another clone, and potentially meet
Kira's father.

I can't wait :D

Neither can I. It actually looks like this new clone might be as close to the Real Tatiana Maslany (At least based on what I've seen in interviews and her stint on Parks and Recreation in terms of looks and personality) as we're going to get. Always fun when we meet a new clone, just to see what else Ms. Maslany can pull off.

Nothing wrong with sex. I just wish they'd show more female skin. Lately it seems that male nudity has become much more common on TV than female. Which I suppose is correcting a longstanding imbalance in the other direction, but I'd prefer something more egalitarian.

A lot to process tonight! And what a great cliffhanger too.

I think for me the best part of the episode is that they're drawing sympathy from me for Helena. Yes I cared for her in season 1 as well, but here we're really seeing the extent of how far this group is willing to go to accomplish it's goals (I'm assuming it's impregnating her, but I've a feeling there's more to it than that).

I wish I could say I called it on Cal, but someone else brought up that theory on another board and I thought it sounded sound. He seems to be an interesting character and I can't wait to see how he fits into this season.

The only bad part was that Rachel was no where to be seen :( But that's a minor hiccup in an otherwise great episode.

We've had three episodes this season, and in those episodes we've been provided backstory, plot development, and a ton of emotion and the best of all, the pace has not slowed down. I am into every single episode Orphan Black has now, and this is only episode 14 and the start of season 2. Last season it was about meeting the clones and being amazed at Tatiana Maslany. This season that amazement continues, but we're getting so much big picture stuff and big questions are being answered every episode. I'm not sure if Graeme Mason and John Faucett have a plan (They have said they have a three year plan) but so far they have me hooked so much even to the point where last night I said it was too late to see Orphan Black and that's why I waited until today.

So much happened in this episode and every plot point was major. From Cal being Kira's father, to Felix saying enough is enough, and then you had Alison's play and the development with Cosima and Delpheine. After all that, we still had two big cliffhangers for next week, that disturbing scene with Hindrick and Helena and Sarah and Danial in the car crash.

Really excited to see where this goes, and it seems like every episode now something big happens. That makes for an excellent TV show, which Orphan Black is.

I'm traveling this weekend and I'm a bit bummed it will be a while until I see episode 4. It looks like the concern about everyone being separated will be rectified. We know Sarah survives the car wreck, I just hope it's not for "glee" reasons because that was quite a hit.

What I can't figure out is, how everyone seems to know where they are, all the time. I wonder if that thing inside Kira is a tracking device.

I'm still not 100% Cal is Kira's father. I wonder if she really actually has a father. I wonder if she's not another clone, maybe a triplet of Sarah and Helena that didn't gestate until much later.

Or, they really did know where Sarah was at some point and implanted her with an upgraded version of the batch.

I know I'm just rambling, but with this show, anything's possible.

The Dyad Institute did not know about Kira until recently.

If the thing inside Kira tracks, it's Mrs. S who is tracking it.

What I can't figure out is, how everyone seems to know where they are, all the time.

I think Daniel is just following the trail. He ended up at that big house that Mrs. S was hold up in for a while, saw the dead bodies and deduced that they moved on. In his travels he managed to get to the convenience store that they robbed, and worked his way from there. They're focusing more on Sarah so we don't get to see everything that Daniel does, but I think he's just a really good tracker.

HOLY SHIT! That's what I say about tonight's episode :D what a great one!

Last weeks episode (to me at least) was a tad on the slow side, as pieces were put into place, but this week the pace picked up again, and in a big way! The big news? Sarah knows Helena is back and it looks like they'll be teaming up! I totally did not see that ending coming, I mean I once Helena escaped from the Proletheans I had a feeling she'd catch up with Sarah, but not this fast.

The other clones weren't in it too much, I got a feeling something's being done with Alison, but I'm not sure what yet...and from the previews next week: MORE RACHEL! I've missed her in these last two episodes, I can't wait to see her return.

Well, next week is episode 5, and if I recall from last season that's when the shit hit the fan and things went into overdrive. I have no doubt this is going to happen again, and I can't wait.

Also, with all of my favorite shows being cancelled I'd like them to come out and tell us if Orphan Black is renewed or not. Since it's BBCa I have hope that it will, but then again I was pretty sure Community would get a sixth season.
