And my senior year of high school was twelve years ago -- the abuse of young arms is only getting worse (and it's even more obscene at the college level). Hoffman is a perfect example: He's 21, and between official starts and side sessions (at age 19 and 20 alone, he racked up almost 200 innings), he's got easily seven, eight or even nine hundred innings on his arm. No wonder it exploded.

La Stella is coming. Rumors are flying that Dan Uggla is about to don a Braves uniform for the last time.

Oh come on. He's going to break out of this 400 game slump any minute now.

Where are you seeing this? I'm about to start happy hour early if this is true. Truly a cause for a celebration.

Pitchers should only be allowed to throw Fastballs and Chang-ups until they are at least 14 years old. No curves or sliders or cutters or anything else.

Apparently Girardi was screaming so loud at that time that the next night, his voice was totally shot. I have never seen him that pissed. :wtf:

On a lighter note: Looks like Turner Field may soon have a new tenant: Georgia State University. linkypoo

A Cutter is thrown just like a fastball.

Watch him go to another team and revert to the old Dan Uggla he was when he was with the Fish.
I kind of like that proposal.

Although the Braves leaving to go to Cobb being a done deal pretty much, I'm still opposed to them moving there.

It's not "pretty much," the only reason Cobb County made that deal was because the Braves agreed to the money (and that sweet, sweet public financing).

Fuck the Braves and fuck them for trying to extort Fulton Country out of money to renovate a 15-year-old stadium.

I was never a fan of the Braves getting a new ballpark so soon, but if Turner Field will live on, and not be totally wasted - I'm cool with that.

Also, Turner Field has already gotten a lot more use than most Olympic stadia ever get, so that's also a plus.

Only problem remaining is that the new Braves stadium won't have a MARTA station, but they did say there'll be a bus service...

Not sure if you've ever been to Turner Field, but the surrounding area is a dump. There's one bar within walking distance and the rest is demolished buildings and homeless people playing harmonicas for change.

Plenty. I talked about it just last year:

If the Braves wanted a better stadium and a better area around it, they could have developed it themselves. Publicly funded stadiums are bullshit and while I have a ton of respect for Bud Selig and how he's kept labor peace for so long, I fucking hate that man for encouraging teams to hold municipalities hostage for better facilities.

Meh, it's not like Fulton put that much of an effort to keep the Braves there anyway. Although, they went all out to keep the Falcons.

Wow, Dee Gordon leads the majors with 24 stolen bases. You think he can take us back to a time where 75-100 led the league as opposed to 40?

And to think I drafted him in my fantasy league to be a bench player.

The Jose Fernandez injury really sucks. I've watched quite a few Marlins games this year and he was always fun to watch pitch. This is the year of the Tommy John, kind of like how last year was the year of the ACL tear in Football.

Good series from the Giants this week. I think I've seen more balls hit into McCovey cove than at any point in the last 2 years. That's always fun seeing balls going into the water at AT&T. Who would have thunk the Giants would have the power of the long ball this year. Don't they lead the NL in Home Runs or something? Considering the park they play in, that's shocking.

Carlos Beltran is on his way to see Dr. James Andrews about his elbow. So, by my count, that gives us:

    Teixeira - hurting
    Cervelli - hurt
    Nova - out for season
    Pineda - hurt
    Sabathia - hurt
    Beltran - hurt

At all of four games over .500, and in first because the AL East is a cripple fight.
