J.J. Abrams Almost Human

Once again, they give us just enough to engender curiosity surrounding the worldbuilding and then BAM! The rug gets yanked out from under us.

What was the deal with Dorian? Why was he special?
What was the deal with Kennex's Terrorist GF?
What was behind THE WALL?
Why did they intentionally air episodes of a series out of order? (again!)

It's frustrating, isn't it.... :brickwall:

They air them out of order because The Suits think they need to show the most exciting episodes first, to grab the audience. So they pick out the ones with car chases and fights and sex to show first. You'd think they were still living in the 60s, before most prime time shows had story arcs.

This blows ....

Another show I liked and watched IN REAL TIME cancelled by FOX
Why do I even bother with this so called network?
Yea, I forgot .... Sleepy Hallow ....

Perhaps it will get shopped around. Lot's of good in this one, shouldn't die
a premature death...

Q2

Other than Sleepy Hollow I'm at a lost to why I should give a flying fig about FOX come the Fall.

The Return of 24 might be included but honestly I'm not sure even Jack Bauer could save this clusterfuck of ever-diminishing returns.

"How many times must we continue to try kicking a football that is never there in the end?"

Damn. I forgot Brooklyn Nine-Nine & New Girl. "Peralta & Schidmt"!

Fox will regret this in the fall, I'm not even a big fan but it just made sense to give it another 13 episodes from the ratings alone. Fox has a bad history with their fall shows failing..

How was JJ going to do "this" and Star Wars?

Season two had to have been planned to have a new executive producer all along.

Who was probably JJ's second, and done 90 percent of the work in season one anyway.

Sad to hear about the cancellation. I was getting interested in that show.

Well there is still Continuum which is now in it's third season.

JJ Abrams did not write or direct a single episode of Almost Human, he was just a producer, so his level of involvement was probably pretty minimal to begin with.

He wasn't involved with the show, it was just his company that was involved.

It was girl shit, so I ignored it first run.

On DVD it's pretty good.

But in the final days, after JJ tied everything off, packed up his shit, and got ready to go home (start making Alias) the network said "Something else fell through, so can we have another 6 episodes?"

Do you want to know how much this pissed off JJ Abrams?

TIMETRAVEL!

In the last 6 episodes, Felictiy goes back in time to the middle of season one and doesn't cut her hair and jumps time tracks completely by dumping the boy she wound up with and pursuing the boy she always should have done, but unfortunately Felecity quickly becomes Destiny's bitch as butterfly effects and knockons keep frakking with her sense of order and everything goes horribly wrong.

Whenever the character said "Break the space time continuum" I got a soul boner.

Cancellation is totally understandable. I compared this show most often with Agents of Shield when both started and I thought A.H. was a better show in the begining. However, AoS steadily improved to where it is now on the verge of being a great show, where A.H. never seemed to improve and pretty much stayed at the same level through the end of the season.

Plus, I never got the point in making Dorian "almost human". My sister said it was because the producers wanted to be able to exploit the big female following the actor who played Dorian had, and making him emotinal worked better. Maybe so, in the "CSI" world. But in the genre would it was wierd and disconcerting. .

Yeah, but Shield got about twice as many episodes as Almost Human did. If Shield's season had ended at 13 episodes like Almost Human did would you still think it was the significantly better show?
