Star Wars Episode VII Discussion, News, Interviews (12/18/2015)

Harrison, Mark and Carrie in the same room with R2 right behind Ford.

It's a good time to be a geek. :)

Pretty male heavy cast there!

Exactly my first thought. It was always male-dominated but I'd expected that to be rectified this time. I thought perhaps we'd get the adventures of Luke's daughter. Maybe we will - we don't yet know who Daisy Ridley is playing, after all - but still, a bit disappointing in this day and age.

I'm just happy John Boyega is in the cast. He was excellent in Attack the Block. It makes me smile that Abrams kept his word about diversifying the cast.

I was eight the last time cast photos with those actors were made public. I'm a 39-year-old fan going on nine. :)

Now he'll make the Kessel Run in less than 18 parsecs with the Falcon's left turn light blinking the entire time.

But I kid Harrison. It's awesome to see him back.

Notice that Ewan and Hayden weren't announced nor seen in the photograph. Every SW film thus far has featured Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, even if Anakin was buried underneath cybernetic life-support armor and sporting a Sith Lord title. This would be the first SW movie without them if they're not in the supporting cast, and I sort of doubt that's the case. Also: no Frank Oz nor mention of him, and it's hard to picture the films made after Episode IV without Yoda.

Methinks we'll be seeing Jedi spirits in this film, and possibly even Wedge and Lando at some point.

It's weird. We've all seen Mark, Carrie and especially Harrison in other things in the years since ROTJ, but when you put them all together in the same room they stop being Mark, Carrie and Harrison. They immediately become Luke, Leia and Han again. And they're not even in costume.

I gotta admit: That picture made me tear up a little. It's like seeing old friends.

Me too. There are so many EMOTIONS!

EMOTIONS!

This is going to be a great ride.

As "Community's" Troy Barnes would say: "My emotions! MY EMOTIONS!"

It would be cool to see Jedi spirits, although it might seem a little odd to see Obi-Wan and Anakin as their younger selves when their previous spirit incarnations appeared older. That problem doesn't exist with Yoda, however. Who knows? They might even throw us a curve ball and have Qui-Gon's spirit show up. And I'm really hoping for an appearance by Lando. Bottom line is I'll be shocked if there aren't one or two unannounced cameos.

Now Harrison Ford will be able to harumph his way through interviews for 3 more SW films.

When my daughter was a baby we got her a onesie that said "I'll never see a new Star Wars movie". Guess that's wrong.
