Forbidden Planet and Doctor Who

I love the 1956 classic, Forbidden Planet! It's obvious influences on Gene Roddenberry aside, can anyone tell me what connections that movie played in influencing Doctor Who? Making a connection to that would be really cool to know for me, as I love both, but absolutely love that classic movie too!

Huh - I thought this was going to be a thread about the retailer, "Forbidden Planet," and the Doctor Who stuff sold there. :p

Not just the invisible monster, the uniforms of the spaceship crew in Planet of Evil are also copied from Forbidden Planet.

Planet Of Evil is the obvious one - invisible monster and all.

I can totally see that. what about the ship itself. The central console control, and the DC stations for light speed deceleration resemble the classic console room, with the back ground for the fault locator section complete with the round lights above..

Robby the robot kinda reminds me of that robot that was underground, in the 6th doctor's adventure, from the trial of a time lord.

LMAO! My bad.. though is Forbidden planet selling the
Big Chief Studios figures? I have been meaning to get those.

More then anything, I want a Timewar Rassilon, complete with headdress, and intricately detailed, with a smashing likeness of Ole James bondy!
