Titan Bible

As far as I know these kinds of things tend to be just for the writers, so if there is one, and there probably is, I doubt that we'll get to read it while the series is still active. The only reason we've gotten to see the Vanguard one is because the series is over. So I have a felling if we ever get to see one for Titan it won't be until the series is over.

Shouldn't be a long wait then...

Unlikely. TTN was actively featured in The Fall miniseries. Most recently, a novella was released and its author conscripted to write a full (non-TTN) novel, thereby proving his writing is sufficiently successful to be picked up by Pocket Books. It is more likely that TTN will continue for several years more.

Also, in Germany, TTN is the most successful of the ST relaunches running in Cross Cult's programme.

Is there a bible for Titan that is available to read?

There is/was a Titan story bible created back when the series first kicked off; it's not as in-depth as the Vanguard one, though, and as far as I know, it's not online anywhere...

James, I just wanted to say that I enjoyed Poisoned Chalice very much. I have a few questions though:

1) Who made the choice to make Riker an Admiral? Is it permanent? I really don't understand why Akkar felt the need to specifically choose Riker over someone like Picard who's been a Captain for way longer.

2) Any plans for a follow up?

3) Will Vale be reprimanded for what she did?

4) What is Bashir's Status (I haven't read Peaceful Kingdom yet so if the answer is a spoiler then don't answer it)

I'm not necessarily up to date on events, but my understanding is:

1) Well, Akaar made the choice. I think Ishan Anjar was already far too suspicious of Picard for him being promoted to be a workable proposition. Riker OTOH had a more spotty record and wouldn't be such an obvious thorn in Ishan's side.

4) I'm hoping he'll receive a presidential pardon at some point, but AFAIK currently he's still a convict.

I haven't read The Fall yet, so I don't know the details, but I do know that David Mack's Section 31: Disavowed is going to be dealing extensively with Bashir's fate post A Ceremony of Losses.

I remember the answer to this was actually given before Poisoned Chalice, in A Ceremony Of Losses, right at the end. Picard and the Enterprise had been too close to Earth, so to Akaar needed someone who had been on the "outer edges" for a while to investigate (i.e. just like what occurred in the TNG episode Conspiracy with Picard and Walker), otherwise Akaar's actions would've been under even higher scrutiny.

Thanks!

Riker's promotion was Akaar's choice. It's permanent (unless he does something to deserve being demoted).

/\ Wot he said. :)

As in, will I write another Titan novel? I'm discussing that with Pocket at the moment.

That'll be answered in the next Titan novel, I'd imagine...

I think Man of Steel was asking who made the real-world choice in relation to Riker, i.e. authors or editor? At least that is how I read it. :-)

I remember that in "Peaceable Kingdoms" Riker did ask about Vale, and Akaar mentioned that he'd do everything he could to try to get Vale from being drummed out of the service, but she would still end up with a black mark on her record. It was more of a throw-away line as I recall.

For someone who never wanted to be a Captain he sure got promoted really fast. Heck, Picard's been a Captain for years and he's still stuck there. Hmmm something's not right there ;)

All kidding aside, who's the Cap of Titan? I'd assume Vale right?

As I recall, Vale was technically in command of Titan, but was not promoted to the rank of Captain yet.

Ah. d'oh.

As I recall, the idea originated with editorial.

What Riker wanted has nothing to do with what orders he was given...

I'd say Vale is currently captain (in role, not rank) of the Titan, but the ship carries Riker's flag as admiral.

So basically, for the forseeable future, Riker will still be in command of Titan from what I gather?

Still wondering why Picard has yet to be offered the Admiralty.

He has been. He just turned it down. Riker would have too, he just really didn't have the option.

Yeah. He was offered it in the tv series first season in 2364, and he was offered it again in 2381, by Akaar, during William Leisner's awesome Losing the Peace. Not sure of any other offers, but i'd be surprised if there weren't any..

I hope Riker does stay an admiral. I'm really tired of the idea that being captain of a starship is the end all, be all of serving in Starfleet like the TV shows always suggested.
