If you could make ONE change to each trek series...

TOS: Not have Kirk/Spock/McCoy dominate so much of the show, make it more of an ensemble.
TNG: Less trying to mimic TOS' style in the first couple of seasons.
DS9: End the Dominion War either early in or midway through the seventh season, so there'd be time to deal with the aftermath.
VOY: Realistic consequences based on their situation, i.e. long-term damage to the ship, energy shortages, less of a happy-go-lucky attitude amongst the crew, etc.
ENT: No Temporal Cold War.

VOY........Have some other ship pursue them for a couple of seasons.

ENT.........No more Tucker

DS 9............Dax stays the same

TNG............Redo the whole first 2 seasons.

TOS............More focus on other crewmembers besides the big 3.

ENT: Use the refit design for NX-01 from the start.

TOS: Give Chekov, Sulu, and Uhura more prominent roles.

TAS: Add Chekov.

TNG/DS9: Remove Ron Moore and his idiotic "Challenging Assumptions" bullshit to the point that armed guards are kept at the front gate of the Paramount lot with orders to shoot to kill if he attempts to gain employment. Even that is not enough. Raise his taxes as punishment if he sends in a spec script.

VOYAGER: Not really sure about this one. While many small things about the show annoyed me from time to time, nothing really stands out as wanting to change something.

ENTERPRISE: Eliminate the Xindi arc entirely. And, kill Trip in a different way at the end of each episode to the tune of The Benny Hill Show.

TOS: Retain Jose Tyler from "The Cage" throughout series, no Chekov. If I could change two things, lose Uhura. If three things, keep gooseneck viewers from "The Cage."

TNG: Redesign Enterprise D bridge so it doesn't look like a hotel lobby

DS9: Lose the heavy story arcs

VOY: Actually convey the sense of a stranded ship

ENT: N/A (stopped watching after pilot)

TOS: I've always liked the storyline surrounding Kirk's promotion to a desk job (and away from the Enterprise) and would have made this a prominent plot thread in the third season, perhaps by featuring an episode where Kirk's possible promotion to admiral is discussed. It would have set the stage nicely for TMP and the movies that followed.

TNG: I would have either killed off Picard during "The Best of Both Worlds" or given Riker his own ship. There was no reason to keep both of them on the Enterprise after the start of the fourth season. Riker could still have had a significant role in the series by participating in joint missions with the Enterprise.

DS9: I would not have killed off Jadzia at the end of the sixth season. Although Terry Farrell wanted to leave the series, there's no reason why she couldn't have been brought back as a recurring character on a one- or two-episode basis. Her being alive would not precluded bringing Ezri to the station, as an unjoined Trill would still have made an interesting character.

VOY: I would like to have seen Voyager return home sooner, perhaps at the start of the seventh season. It would have given us a chance to see the repercussions of their time in the Delta Quadrant and would have provided a greater sense of closure for the characters.

ENT: I would have included the start of the Romulan War in the series and would have ditched the Temporal Cold War. Although time travel stories are among my favorite and I liked the story-arc itself, I don't think it had a place in the series and raised too many questions about how Enterprise fit with the other series.

One other thing I thought of for TNG: Romulans. I can understand that civilizations change over time, but they were much more interesting as depicted in TOS. The shoulder pads and bowl cuts just didn't do for me.

The Romulans were only featured in two episodes of TOS, though. There was less time to "dilute" them compared to how often they were in TNG+.

TOS: Keep the season 1a vibe, far less humor, more bit players with speaking roles, eerier, etc.
TAS: Have actors in a room with each other, not three inches from mic in a booth.
TNG: Juicier characters after Picard and Data; too many bland ones as is.
DS9: No supernatural/fantasy BS (pagh wraith possession, shooting energy beams).
VOY: Keep Maquis/two crews idea; that ended way too soon, unrealistic.
ENT: Phew, where to start? There's something about Bakula that just says "putz."

TOS: Nothing. It was perfect for that time.
TNG: More attention to relationships between crew members (e. g. deep friendship, which grows gradually).
DS9: Season 7 without Ezri Dax => more screen time for basic crew members.
VOY: Stopped watching after couple of episodes.
ENT: Never watched.

TOS: I'll echo others and say MORE UHURA. Also, if there was a way to keep Number One from The Cage around, I'd have liked to see more of her. Majel Barrett was just dreamy. ;)

TNG:
TNG: Redesign Enterprise D bridge so it doesn't look like a hotel lobby
:guffaw:

[clears throat]
Okay, for me, I'd say keep Dr. Crusher in S2 instead of having Pulaski come in, but I totally support and understand Gates' decision to leave at the time, so--I would have loved to see Ro Laren around more, maybe even as a main character. I'm glad she didn't go over to DS9 as planned, because I love Kira, but--why can't I have both awesome Bajoran ladies? More Ro!

DS9: I know some people don't like the dark turn that the show took. I actually love it for this reason; it took risks that other Treks didn't. However, I would liked to have seen some more of the fallout from what happened during the Dominion War.

Also--more exploration of the dynamic between Garak and Bashir. I know the actors wanted to take it in a romantic direction, which I certainly wouldn't be opposed to.

VOY: Bye bye, Tom Paris.

ENT: Uh....just one thing? Not gonna touch this one with a ten foot pole...

TOS: Less reliance on planet-out-of-Earth's-history episodes. (I would say forbid them entirely, but I know they were budget-dictated to some extent.)
TNG: Forbid all holodeck episodes. We aren't voyaging among the stars to watch the crew battle their entertainment system.
DS9: Cast an actor as Dax who can really sell the character concept. The show would've had many more immortal moments yet with someone in Dax's skin who could really play her as an ancient, eccentric soul in a young woman's body.
VOY: No way it can be fixed by one change.
ENT: As with VOY but moreso.

ENT - Change it to post-Voyager
TOS - Take away the 60's cheese
TNG - More Ro Laren!
DS9 - Add Ro Laren!
VOY - Make it more realistic (less clean and shiny ship and more like YoH and BS9)

VOY: Bye bye, Tom Paris.

Putting aside the real world reasons for not doing this, if Tom Paris had been Nick Locarno as soon as McNeill was cast, the character would have been better served. They wanted the actor, they wanted the checkered background up for redemption. If you're going to do it, go all the way.

TOS: Less alien-of-the-week episodes and more story-arcs. I know television of the sixties wasn't like that, but it would have been nice to see the consequences of the decisions made by the Enterprise crew. The Wrath of Khan is the only time we see anything like it.

TNG: I'd have kept Pulaski as CMO. Gates McFadden is a beautiful woman, but her character just didn't do it for me. Too preachy and self-righteous. Her treatment of Worf in particular really got on my nerves.

DS9: I'd have bagged the abbreviated Federation-Klingon war that occupied season four and the start of five. I know the writers wanted a way to make Worf relevant, but that could have been done without cramming the Klingons down our throats. I'd have enjoyed seeing more buildup to the Dominion War and even have started the conflict sooner so that we could have seen more of its resolution during the seventh season.

VOY: I'm probably in the minority on this one, but I'd have been fine with the crew not getting home at all. If it's really the journey and not the destination that matters (as Harry so eloquently put it), why not have the journey continue beyond "Endgame?"

ENT: I wouldn't have had the series at all. I appreciate what the writers and producers were trying to do, but it didn't take. I'd have rather seen a series take place between TMP and TWOK or maybe something in The Lost Era.

You get the Trek BBS Post of the Day Award for that one, Big Jake.

What I've always found funny about that is how DS9 managed to make a holosuite episode that was immeasurably better than anything TNG put out. "Hollow Pursuits" had its moments, but most of the holodeck episodes sucked.

Are the holodeck episodes really that much worse than "Roman Planet" or "Gangster Planet" or "Western Planet" from TOS?

TOS: I've got nothing so give me seasons 4 and 5.

TNG: Retain the sense of exploration that was prevalent in seasons 1 and 2. The writing and acting of these seasons may not have been of the best quality but they're still my favorite seasons of the show because of that sense of exploration.

DS9: End the Dominion war in season six and spend season 7 on reconstruction.

VOY: Maintain more of a sense of continuity between episodes. Show how the characters evolved and the consequences of their interactions with Delta quadrant species.

ENT: Remove UPN from the equation and allow the show to develop as Berman and Braga originally had in mind.
