When Wang was almost certainly fired, and their course was set to have Kes and Seven of Nine stay aboard for the final four seasons and the highly anticipated movie franchise once the TNG foggies got too old... How long was that period of time?
A month? Two months? Three?
I'm assuming that most of that time was when the actors were only Holiday/hiatus, although the writing/producing probably happens most of the year around unlike the acting which is barely half a year...
The white board mapping out the season, and the distribution of episodes per character focus, and key supporting characters... So that's three months where the white board delineated where Kes would be getting a week to herself and where Kes was going to be someone's Tonto.
If Wang had been fired like he was supposed to have been fired, he would have died from Species 8472 infection inbetween Scorpion 1 and 2, and there would have been no need to allow Wang back on the set or pay him to work, when they could have just explained his death with exposition, or use a mannequin stage dummy prop that had been mutated beyond all recognition.
