J.J. Abrams Almost Human

What would it take for some future US Government to cede over more American soil, parts of an established city even, to a new faction unanswerable to the Federal Government?

You mean like what happened in Riverton, Wyoming?

I imagine that sort of thing is going on all the time.

There's also genealogical testing with a moving goal post where some Indians are told that they are not Indian enough because of contamination to their blood lines (extraracialbreeding) that forces eviction from the reservation, tribe, and profit sharing with any tribe related enterprises.

But by "New faction" I meant "not Native American".

Random nationality generator... American Armenians want Land in return for some slight heretoforeafter to be called New Armenia and is unanswerable to the US Federal Government with out protracted diplomatic pissing and bitching.

Although the Norwegians might actually be able to retroactively call dibs if they got their shit together, and get some sort of settlement since they had 600 years on Christopher Columbus.

One of my favorite shows on TV right now. Dorian & Kennex play off each other so well. The world building is good, the supporting cast are solid, and they're setting up some interesting series arcs. I seriously hope this gets picked up. TV needs some decent sci-fi that lasts longer than a season and this show is great.

As for Stahl, my father, a cop, points out every time she's on screen that no cop in the history of Maine has ever looked like her, but he can certainly understand why the "real" cops would keep her around. She looks like a supermodel. They need to establish that she has something to contribute more than being pretty and chilling at the precinct to answer the phone 90% of the time. I might have made her a K-9 handler with a gengineered partner, play up her isolation as a Chrome and the comparison between her dog and Dorian and how one is an animal, but alive that the other cops like, while the other is a machine that looks like a man, but is considered a toaster most cops ignore. Whatever they do, Stahl has to actually DO shit beyond being the distracting hot chick they take on undercover missions into hacker dens.

I've never seen Jeter's "X" in anything before and I'm pleasantly surprised at how good an actress she is.

I don't think she "needs" her own plot yet, I'm fine with them waiting. I also like her relationship with John. I would rather we get something meaningful rather than giving her something to have something. Didn't they mention something about her being genetically engineered?

And what's to complain about? This gal is real easy on the eyes :)

...and she does have a specialty :bolian:

While I like the whole cast, I think the best job casting was chosing Michael Ealy and Dorian. Wow, he's fantastic!!

I'll be very upset if they don't continue this fine series.

I have a friend who hates the show and hopes it gets cancelled, strictly because it's an American "rip off" of a British show. :cardie:
And what British Show would that be? Some people believe that it is a spinoff off of Small Wonder. Which feature a child android name Vicki Lawson, played by Tiffany Brissette, created by a computer robotic genius name Ted Lawson, played by Dick Christin.

^ I think MisterFandango guessed correctly when he said the person probably confused this show for the US remake of the UK's Being Human. I occasionally do a double-take when I see the similar titles listed as well.

They're finding the right balance between juvenile (child actor, nose) and serious topic (vanity, genetic engineering) to potentially become interesting.

Hope for a 2nd season.

Damn that was a very good episode.. easily one of the best AH episodes and in general a very well written episode with a surprising and sad twist at the end.

If they manage to make episodes like that and those that start some broader storylines it deserves at least a second season to broaden its scope and get some things going.

And as a hopeless shipper.. yay! She looked back!

That's one thing the show hasn't done is hold back on things like that.

I think it's a possibility that the city they are in is not just a Metropolis, but might actually be called Metropolis.

Finally an episode I like.

In the beginning, I thought this would be just a standard Mutant Horror story in the mold of Fringe.

Fortunately, it got better as it went along and ended on a sad note.

And the "Chrome" aspect adds another Gattaca-esque layer to the show's universe.
