Cast the Characters of Trek Literature

Whenever Ishan Anjar says anything, I hear his voice as Bill Ratner (Councilor Udina from Mass Effect). I don't think his look is quite right, but if there were ever an animated adaptation of The Fall...

Given the events of 'Ceremony of Losses,' I think Udina's 'This is an OUTRAGE!' line would be a definite fit... :p

EDIT: Mixed up my titles.

"Do the words 'political shitstorm' mean anything to you?"

Hah.

This works particularly well because I envision Akaar using Hackett's voice; can't help it.

This idea popped into my head while I was rereading Articles of the Federation:

Alan Rickman as Kant Jorel, mainly from seeing him do disdain so well, as Severus Snape, but also from what I saw of him in Love, Actually

and

Jesse Eisenberg, with elements from his performance in The Social Network, as Zhres

God, it would be fun to watch those two in those roles.

I had Hugh Laurie in full-on Greg House mode (albeit with his natural British accent) when writing Kant, but Rickman works, too. :)

Mm, yeah, I could see Hugh Laurie in there too. Of course, my main exposure to Hugh Laurie has been through A Bit of Fry and Laurie and Jeeves and Wooster (never was able to get into House, for whatever reason), so it's funny to think of him playing a jerk. :)

Interesting! I always pictured Kant as played by Kurtwood Smith in full-on Red Foreman mode. (But then, I also pictured him as Councillor Enaren of Betazed.... my brain is repetitive?)

I always liked to think of Annorax acting the same way. ;)

"Give my regards to Captain Dumbass!"

(addressing the time ship crew) "Gentlemen, time has just hung a KICK ME sign on its butt...and my foot's looking for a room."

Any ideas for Atia, the Magna Romanii first officer of the Lionheart, in The Fall: The Poisoned Chalice?

I pictured Jennifer Ehle from BBC Pride and Prejudice (1995) fame. The high cheek bones, the decisive pointed chin - she seemed very refined, aristocratic in conduct and looks but still likeable. The refined 19th century and the hard-to-understand Romanii English both are "weird" Englishes from today's perspective, another association my mind made connecting both of them. Jennifer Ehle is my Commander Atia.

I haven't been on the BBS in a long time.

Has Jemima Rooper been mentioned for T'Ryssa Chen?

She would be brilliant.

You mean Medusa from Atlantis? I don't see any conceivable way in which she would be remotely right for T'Ryssa. She doesn't look a thing like Trys, she's the wrong ethnicity, and I don't see any similarities of personality.

The actress who plays Ariadne on Atlantis, Aiysha Hart, is somewhat closer in appearance, at least (though she's Anglo-Arabic, not Chinese). Could that be who you were thinking of? I initially got a little confused about who was playing which character, since Rooper was listed in the main titles and Ariadne initially seemed a more central character than Medusa.

I completely forgot T'Ryssa was Chinese. I read each book once and my memory is like a sieve.

But in terms of her character, check out Rooper in Lost in Austen. Absolutely perfect in my mind - the right mix of awkward and inspirational.

Just for fun...

Who wants to play "Let's Cast the Presidents?"

Here are some of the Federation Presidents who've been prominently depicted in the novels, and some of them have my picks. Some of them have been covered before in this thread, but why not gather them together?

Thomas Vanderbilt - Aaron Eckhart
Haroun al-Rashid - ?
Kenneth Wescott - Bruce Greenwood, doing his JFK act from Thirteen Days
Chab jav Lorg - Dan Starkey
Thelianaresth "Thelian" th'Vorothishria - Michael Douglas
Min Zife - John Nichols
Ra'ch B'ullhy - Ellen Degeneres
Nanietta Bacco - Jessica Walters
Ishan Anjar - Bruce Dern
Kellessar zh'Tarash - I'm thinking either Portia de Rossi or Jane Lynch?
