what happened between the Federation and First Federation

JT Perfecthair

After Balok and Mr Bailey what do you think happened with the 2 powers? Probably for budgetary reasons, we never hear from them again in the series. The Fesarius must have taken a while for the model builders to put together.

It seems to me that if 2 powers find they are sharing a border but don't clash over it, then that is by agreement especially if one is more advanced than the other. So it seems to me both sides, being mostly peaceful, have agreed to leave each other alone. They don't seem to have become allies after TOS either, with no involvement at Wolf359 for example.

I feel the First Federation is more advanced than they let us see. Balok means it when he says "it was a pleasure testing you." He's controlling the entire episode, feeding whatever he wanted to Spocks sensors. The area he met the Enterprise landing party was constructed for the purpose, and the Fesarius had a large crew in keeping with its size that we couldn't detect. The "true" appearance of Balok is probably as much a fake as the puppet head was, designed to be easier for Kirk to interact with.

Had Kirk been truly hostile I think the First Federation would have walked over Starfleet.

My theory is that the First Federation contained the Betazed, the Trill, the Bolians, and some others, and that by TNG the two federations had completely merged.

Has it occurred to anyone that the "First Federation" might have been as much of a fake as the Balok puppet? For all we know baby Balok is the only one of his kind.

Bailey always reminded me facially of the Professor from Gilligan's. Maybe he's smart like that and rigged up a bike and movie projector from bamboo logs and brought the tribes together somehow.

Well, in "Journey To Babel" we saw two short dudes pouring themselves a drink in the rec room where a lot of dignitaries were gathered. Maybe they were First Federation emissaries?

An intense legal battle for the rights to the name "Federation", necessitating use of the names "United Earth Space Probe Agency", "Space Central" and "Earth Command" until it was settled.

Clearly they are a superior race and just left the galaxy so the relatively childlike UFP, Klingons and Romulans can squabble amongst themselves for the next 200 years.
