What do you mean "our business"? I'm talking about it here, with you, I'm not asking Eccleston or anything like that. There's absolutely no harm in speculating or debating about that kind of thing, and thank god we can be curious about all kinds of things without being directly involved, otherwise life would be very dull.
Because Peter Davison is his stage name. His real name is Peter Moffet.
On a related note, I find it interesting that for her producer credit she's listed as "Georgia Tennant" since David Tennant is also a stage name (his real name is David McDonald).

Hmm, that makes three Doctors who use stage names. Sylvester McCoy's real name is Percy James Patrick Kent-Smith. Also the non-canonical Doctor Richard E. Grant (The Curse of Fatal Death, Scream of the Shalka) is really Richard Esterhuysen.
Does it say anything about Sandra Dickinson's name? Just curious, since she was (is still?) an actress.Excellent.
A silly question - why is it Gerogia Moffet, not Davidson? Wikipedia lists her mother as Dickinson so that isn't the answer...

I'm curious. Is that so hard to believe? Being curious is my job. And even if it weren't, I would still be curious.
My bad. Georgia Moffet is her real name, so of course it does!
(But it lists her father as Peter Davidson, not Peter Moffet, that's where I became confused.)
The entry is filed under Peter Davison (not Davidson), because that's how he's widely known and it's the name most people would therefore look him up under. But the very first sentence in the entry reads, "Peter Davison (born Peter M. G. Moffett on 13 April 1951)[1] is an English actor...". So yes, it does list his real name.
I have no problem with curiosity. But "what happened" is being used for the speculation of whether or not someone you don't know is an asshole or not.
This has left natural natural curiosity--which is great, wonderful--and entered into the realm of gossip. We aren't entitled to know every little thing that has happened behind closed doors. Whose feelings were hurt and why. Who is a jerk who isn't.
Eccelston has acted every bit the professional. He hasn't slagged anyone by name. He explained why he didn't like the atmosphere there. Why he isn't interested in coming back. In a VERY respectful way. And here, all I see are fans responding to it with anything but respect. Just because he decided he didn't want to appear on a TV show.
I'm not entitled to know, I'm just curious. I don't think I have a right to know, but I'd like to know anyway. As for Eccleston, I promise you that he isn't aware that I even exist, so I'm sure there's nothing about my attitude that is likely to have any discernible effect on his life. There really isn't much there to be angry about.

And apologies for the extra "D" - I have learnt that an innocent misspelling around these parts can result in a fate worse than extermination! I should have been more careful.
There are two misspellings that people do over and over again when it comes to Doctor Who, so some of us feel a bit touchy about that, it's true.
I just figured it was important to be clear on the spelling for the purposes of looking things up in a reference work.
Davison and Eccleston are frequently misspelled by fans, and I've become desensitized to them. If I'm replying to someone who misspelled their names and I quote the message, I'll quietly fix the misspelling.
One of my favorite name manglings came from a BBC sales presentation I attended a few years ago. The BBC presenter (actual executive-level BBC employee, with a bbc.co.uk e-mail address and everything) was talking about the series, and he kept talking about "David Ecclestein." That's become a joke around the office between me and the coworker who was also sent to this sales presentation.
