I'm just wondering how people prefer to watch TV (and long movies in particular). I'm trying to find the most comfortable sitting position for watching long movies, so I won't have to fidget and change positions throughout the movie. Do you sit on a couch or on a chair? Do you rest your head or do you prefer to sit up straight? Do you use a pillow to support your back or head? If you sit on a reclining chair, do you prefer the upright, semi-reclined or fully-reclined positions? Do you sit in front of the TV or off to the side? Do your sitting preferences vary depending on watch show or movie you're watching?
In my TV watching days, back when I could actually buy things, I preferred a recliner or a chair with an ottoman.
I sit in a fully reclined recliner, directly in front of the TV, with a neck supporting pillow (and a blanket in cold weather). That is my preferred viewing position 99% of the time.
Most of the time, I either sit in my recliner, partially reclined, or lay on the sofa with my head propped up.
I lay down sideways on the couch, directly in front of the TV. When I do sit up, my feet are always up on the couch with me, either tucked under me or sitting cross-legged. I really don't like sitting straight with my feet on the floor for some reason.
I tend to watch tv/movies/netflix mostly before bed, so I am often laying in bed, surrounded by dogs. In the daytime, though, I sit on the couch or on the floor.
I do most of my TV watching in my room, which is also where my computer is, so I typically watch TV while sitting in my computer chair (thank goodness it's comfy!). I stole the ottoman out of the living room a ways back so if I'm just focusing on the TV I'll usually put my feet up on that.
If I'm alone, in my recliner. With my girlfriend, on the couch, where we either sit, or lay curled up.
When I'm alone I lay on the couch. When the family is around I usually sit in a chair with my feet up on the coffee table.
