Casting a Gender-Switched Enterprise

Another possibility for Bones that comes to mind:

That would be Michelle Dockery of Downton Abbey fame.

I dunno, I can't picture Dockery bouncing on the balls of her feet and grinning like a cheshire cat the way Bones does..

I've blanked out Downton (terrible scars..) so I was wondering if this was going to be the dowager

I want sexy older lady. I'm thinking more of following in TOS footsteps than NuTrek where McCoy looks a lot less crusty.

Not a bad idea -- except that I'm hardwired when seeing "red-headed female Doctor" to think "Beverley Crusher." And yet how do you hide a glorious fiery mane like that under a dye-job?

Tina Fey could be fun...

Nice choice!

Me, I don't want to see a reverse-gendered Trek to be the original cast in drag. I would hope and expect the actors to make these roles their own!

I also recommend Katherine Moennig as Spock.

It would definitely have to be someone able to grab attention and keep focus on the character. I mean
Female Kirk should be strong, beautiful and sexy. You should want to look at female Kirk and look and look.. and follow her anywhere. She exudes confidence and touch of wildness. I'm voting for Doreen Jacobi, not well known outside of Europe, striking and interesting and not just a pretty boy (girl) to look at.

Striding.. arms..

Follow her ANYWHERE!

She has some sci fi pedigree, she was in an episode of Lexx.

What were we talking about?

For 2takesfrakes: in what video-type contexts would I find KaDee Strickland, incidentally?

Supplementary for the general thread:

Anybody care to up the ante and gender-flip the rest of the crew regulars? Including male version of Uhura, Rand and Chapel?

Claudia Black's really hard-looking. They'd have to make Bones a lesbian, that's for sure...
You mean "Claudia Black's really spectacular. They'd have to make Bones the star of the show." In that case, I agree.

I also recommend Katherine Moennig as Spock.
Good idea. Traue is too classical-looking for Spock in my oponion. Vulcans should have some oddness about them. Jennifer Carpenter? "That's fucking logical, captain."

I totally agree that we're clearly talking about a male Uhura, Chapel and Rand.

And Claudia Black is indeed spectacular, as well as funny!

Allow me to ... to rephrase:
"Claudia Black's really spectacular. They'd have to make Bones the star of the show."
