I take it Jesse is responsible for what happened to Walt's house and he's the one who spray painted "Heisenberg" on the wall?
Thought Walt was going to squeeze Jesse to death or snap his neck in the desert.
That episode was amazing. Yes, I'm assuming Jesse is the one to destroy Walt's house. This is getting really interesting. I laughed at Walt's confession, it was genius, it made me root for Walt as the evil genius. I truly felt bad for Jesse in that scene in the dessert, I teared up a little bit. I'm not sure Walt was working Jesse though, I think he does care about him. Now that the cat's out of the bag about Brock, I'm guessing Walt will be forced to go after Jesse. I'm so used to seeing Walt figure out solutions, but not this time.
Holy shit! They are killing me with these cliffhangers! I don't know how they can keep it going but this show will manage to do that.
Just when I thought Walt couldn't manage to sink even lower, he manages to do it. Walt and Skylar were detestable but at least Skylar realizes she has dropped an atomic bomb on her relationship with Marie and it's never going to heal.
Walt's gamble was brilliant and Hank has no one to blame but himself. I totally get how stunned and horrified he is about Walt but he's been stumbling after since he STUPIDLY took that book out of Walt's house. By doing that, he allowed Walt to know that he knew about Heisenberg. I don't think Hank is going to give up but he's in a total tactical retreat right now.
I kept thinking Jesse was going to run into Walt Jr. at the end. Didn't expect him to be the one to destroy the house but that was totally an awesome cliffhanger.

A lot of characters with sullen looks staring off into space these days. Except Hank, he just looks angry a lot.
Maybe to a degree, but Walt was definitely massaging him and he wasn't buying any of it.
There were several occasions where Walt would have been better off if Jesse were simply dead, and Walt didn't let it happen. I don't know that it's fair to say he cares about Jesse. He likes possessing Jesse, the way he likes to possess Skyler and his kids. At this point, I'm not sure there's anyone he genuinely cares about so much as wanting to possess and control them--even if it's from beyond the grave, with millions in dope money. In a sense, the duffel bag of money he gave Jesse was another way to control him. But Jesse's clearly gone out of control and who knows if Walt can pull him back.
Walt and Skyler are straight-up monsters these days. I don't know if there's any term for what they pulled with that 'confession' tape other than "evil."
These have almost stopped being viable episodes on their own and have become mere snippets of one long movie; they start in medias res and then stop when the 45 minutes are up without resolving anything. It's getting frustrating, though I imagine it'll make for an incredible viewing experience once all the episodes have aired.
That's a really good point and adds plausibility, I think, to that Reddit idea from before, that Walt may be avenging Hank's death in the flash-forward. He does seem to view Hank as family and wants to control him the way he controls everyone else. Any vengeance would not be redemptive or an expression of him caring about Hank per se; it would be him mad that someone damaged one of his playthings, and he'd want to strike back for it.

Wow.....just wow. I was wondering what the deal was with Jesse starting at the cigarettes so intently. It dawned on me a split second before he confronted Saul what it was. I can't see Jesse killing Hank. That would violate the core of the character.
Hank beat him to a pulp, sure, but Hank didn't poison Brock. Oh yeah, Walter was playing him in the desert. No doubt about it. He needs Jesse to be gone. Walter, at his heart, doesn't want to have to kill Jesse. He doesn't want it to be necessary to protect himself because Walt knows he would do it if push came to shove. At the end of the day, Walter cares about himself most. Does he care about Jesse at all?
Perhaps a smidgeon. Does he love Jesse? Fuck, no. He loves possessing Jesse. He gets off on having someone look up to him and adore him but there's no turning back with Jesse. Jesse's lost it and Walter has earned his ire. Interesting point about the house not being burned in the flash forward.
God, Skyler, I hope Walter is worth losing your sister over. Hi, Marie. I'm willing to hold the camera and help Walter screw over your husband, but we had good times as kids, right? Does this mean we can't have coffee? Skyler's given up everything for Walt. She had a way out. She could have turned Walter in, but she didn't do it. If it were only a matter of not wanting Walter, Jr. to find out I'd have sympathy, but it's more than that for Skyler. She's made herself complicit times ten. Hopefully Holly will grow up with the last name Schrader. Damn, shooting that video of Walt was low. Walter's a snake. Can you imagine the rage and hurt felt by Hank and Marie? Imagine your own sibling doing that to you. It's not a pretty picture.
It's fascinating, though. Why can't Walter bring himself to openly threaten Jesse? He made the recording to threaten Hank. Why is it that he can't come clean with Jesse? Take the deal or we'll kill you. The embrace was startling; did Jesse ever put his arms around Walt? I don't think so. If Walter were the kingpin that he thinks he is, he'd have killed Jesse by now. Taking morals and ethics from the equation, eliminating Jesse as a threat makes the most sense. Walter is a snake in the grass, but he's not Scarface. He's not tough enough. Mike made him flinch. When confronted by a real man, Walt flinches.

Walt's fake confession was deliciously evil. Poor Hank. He's just not up to par with Walt. However, Jesse might do his work for him, after all. But if that happens, how will Hank fare? The circumstances will make him look bad to the DEA, perhaps even complicit (depending on what they find).

If I remember correctly, Brock was poisoned by a flower Walt had in his garden, not the ricin from Jesse's cigarettes. I don't quite remember the details of the ricin cigarette storyline.

I was wondering the same thing. I guess it just finally clicked in his head, he put two and two together after staring at the cigarette.Walt's fake confession was deliciously evil.

If I remember correctly, Brock was poisoned by a flower Walt had in his garden, not the ricin from Jesse's cigarettes. I don't quite remember the details of the ricin cigarette storyline.
The only thing that might seem out of character for me is Jesse "teaming up" with Hank. I would think that with the time he spent with Mike, Jesse would never talk and would never cooperate with the police. He definitely allowed Hank to get to him. Granted, Jesse allowed his conscious to get to him, but he also fell for the oldest trick in the book. He wouldn't have fell for that with Mike around. So, I don't know if he's going to work with Hank per se, but he's obviously going after Walt in his own, unique, way.
I think it's funny how Saul is still trying to maintain the peace while the shit storm pours down on everyone. He keeps sticking with Walt, presumably out of fear and for the money, but eventually, he's going to have the same choice as Jesse, either disappear or be killed.

Saul wanted Jesse to get rid of his pot, Huell bumped into Jesse in the office, and then Jesse noticed his dope was gone. When he was looking for the pot and found the pack of smokes, it dawned on him the same thing had happened before.
They addressed the cigarette "epiphany" in the "Talking Bad" segment.
Based on what I can tell, he was looking to light up a new doob. He realized that the bag was gone after (IIRC) another covert frisking by Saul's security guy. He then went to smoke a regular cigarette and that's when it clicked. When he realized the bag had been lifted so expertly without his knowledge, he realized that the same person or people were behind the loss of his "lucky" cigarette and it all came crashing together. The only thing he neglected to take into account is that the tox report on his girlfriend's son proved that he wasn't poisoned by Walt's special substance (not including the name here - don't want a knock at my door), moving attention away from that and onto some other potential source. In any case, that part was clearly irrelevant in Jesse's mind, as he had already decided who was responsible and went to take retribution.

Yeah I have to agree Jesse's epiphany over the cigarette was a bit hard to follow at first, because while those events occurred very recently for him, it's been a couple years for us.
But thinking back, Jesse actually HAD correctly guessed the first time that Walt had poisoned Brock (and was very close to shooting Walt over it), but Walt spun this big elaborate story about Gus framing him after stealing the cigarette out of Jesse's locker instead.
Of course now that Jesse sees what a master manipulator and liar Walt is (and how easily Huell was able to pick his pocket), it seems a lot more obvious that Walt was behind the whole thing after all.

Yeah, it makes sense to me, now. I really should have rewatched the show before this last half-season.
Walt had also essentially closed the book on the ricin by "finding" it in Jesse's Roomba, so the only way he could put together that Huell had swiped it was if he also believed Walt snowed him back then, too. That does fit with the rest of this episode, and Jesse's general complaint that Walt is always "working" him. Definitely some tricky dot-connecting going on for Jesse to figure all that out, though.
Walt's confession was just brilliant. He linked pieces of the truth together with lies that would be difficult or impossible to confirm, as the relevant players are all dead. Jesse is pretty much his only weak link at this point, and as a matter of self-preservation, Walt should have pulled the trigger on him.
But it's just as well that he didn't, because I'm more than happy to see Walt's perfect little world upended by the troubled young man he's abused for the past year.
