made the 23rd century way too contemporary

As opposed to miniskirts and hippies in TOS ?

Young, inexperienced people often make poor decisions. Kirk also executed Chang in The Undiscovered Country. After obviously crippling the Bird-of-Prey, he didn't even offer surrender as an option.

Yeah but that was ok because it was real Trek.

Star Trek Into Darkness conveyed a message just fine.

What message would that be?

Executing people without a trial is bad. Friendship is good. Stupid laws are stupid, etc.

This forum would be so much nicer if everyone could just accept that others have a different opinion about wether or not this was a good film.

This forum ? The WORLD would be much nicher if that happened.

I figured I'd start small. ;) But seriously, for fans of a show that promotes peace amongst mankind, you'd think they'd be more tolerant towards eachother.

The execution message in STID was a good one. It made up for them executing Nero in the first movie. And yeah, it was an execution. Any kind of battling was over and they were communicating.

Nah. I don't think combat works that way.

I loved the movie, seen it twice already.

And by the poll, it seems that most of us like this movie a lot! :)

But... the massive ship, despite its damage, was drifting into a known time travel phenomenon. A pre-emptive strike during a time of war.

I'd avoid the Neutral Zone forum if I were you. Just sayin'...

Finally got around to voting... solid A. Lacked a classic scene like the intro to Star Trek '09, otherwise would've gotten that plus, alhough Pike dying came close to evoking that ultimate grade.
