That scene would have been so wrong.

The whole point was that the Ba'ku wanted to live alone and undisturbed. The Federation was intruding on their lives in order to make a profit. Having Quark show up at the very end as a joke would have meant that nothing changed and that the Ba'ku were doomed sooner or later anyways.

I suspect this was the reason the for scene's exclusion.

Quark traveled to the Ba'ku planet wanting to build a spa or something. I think the footage showed up someplace. (SE DVD maybe?)

I'm sure the Ba'ku were thrilled to have a Ferengi in their midst.

First Contact gets my vote as well. I get the criticism of Picard acting out of character. Perhaps his rage would be more understandable if he hadn't already encountered the Borg two additional times after his Locutus experience. He didn't seem to be flying off the handle in "I Borg" and "Descent." Granted there seemed to be a lot more at stake in First Contact and perhaps at this point he was just fed up with the Borg. His character didn't really detract from the movie in my opinion.

They attacked Earth a second time and he was again the ONLY one that stood between mankind and the Borg. And he was fighting a losing battle.

Well he was a bit out of character, but it's the "they invade our space and we fall back" speech that I found ridiculous. When did the Federation ever fall back in front of a Borg invasion ?

I don't think he was talking about the Federation so much as he was talking about civilization conceding everything to the Borg instead of fighting back.

Well it's certainly a possibility, but he did say "we". I find it unlikely.

Maybe. Anyway, different interpretations, I guess. I always felt the writers tried to put more of a backstory for the line than there was in the first place.
