Re: Drexler?s Bring Enterprise To Netflix Campaign

Why do people always act personally slighted when others embrace an idea they don't think will work, even though they have no personal stake in the matter?
Because many Trekkers like to think of their fellow fans as a sophisticated, forward-looking group?

Re: Drexler?s Bring Enterprise To Netflix Campaign

Even if Netflix did bring it back (never gonna happen!), the budget would be a fraction of what it was - it would be Mayweather in a small room talking about still being an ensign.

Enterprise: Waiting for T'Podot

As I said, there are people out there that seem personally invested in seeing this fail. :p

Re: Drexler?s Bring Enterprise To Netflix Campaign

And has anyone thought about how ridiculous these people are going to look trying to pick up characters where they left off a decade ago?

Yeah, no one remembers TMP through TUC anymore. :shifty:

Good point. I always enjoyed the TOS movies way more than TOS itself.

TOS had the benefit of growing popularity after cancellation so that the cast was welcomed back with open arms. Enterprise has a small fanbase. Large enough for blu-ray sales, but that's about it. I think if this takes off, it will because of Trek purists who want some vestige of the prime-continuity to live on will back it, even if they didn't particularly like Enterprise. I'm part of that club.

Just being realistic.

Why with Trek's renewed popularity would I want to go back to the show that twisted the knife put in by Nemesis and killed the franchise?

Hey hey hey, Enterprise put in the knife and Nemesis twisted it! ;)
Not me, but many would argue Voyager went to the kitchen and fetched the knife!

How much influence does Drexler have? He was in VFX and makeup, nowhere near the producers of the show. Has he talked with Berman & Braga about this?

Nah, Voyager didn't set the franchise up for failure... they did fail to keep that knife out of reach of the kids though. Bad Voyager, bad!

This was a response from the stuff (I think Jen) on the campaing page on facebook to Armando J. Arviso:"
Star Trek Enterprise Season 5 - Netflix campaign At the risk of repeating myself (and I really don't mind doing so) yes there is some real progress. Both Netflix and CBS have expressed a serious interest in this project, all of the actors are willing to sign on AND there seems to be no end of fan support. What needs to happen now, and this is what we are working on, is a cost analysis and presentation to both that this could be done on a "shoestring" budget. Obviously ships are easy in CGI, I do every render on a Macbook Pro sitting at my kitchen counter. Interiors could be greenscreened, and minimal sets would have to be manufactured. Robert Bolivar is writing up the proposal as I type this, and I am not sure when it's being presented to both parties, however, I will caution, things like this, are a HUGE undertaking and do not happen overnight, we may have to revise and revise and revise until we get something they like. Writing to CBS and Netflix, will certainly help and links were provided to both a while back, I'll ask Robert to put those back up again, and a letter writing campaign may be the next step."
