There's no way to know how a draft turns out until the players actually get to play. Look how many people ripped Seattle's first three picks last year -- Bruce Irvin, Bobby Wagner and Russell Wilson. Look how late Tom Brady was drafted. John Randle and Warren Moon went undrafted.

Of course, Mel Kiper claims he's grading the process and not the players to justify all his misses, but how can he even grade the process when he's not in any of the war rooms?

But seriously, only a few NFL teams could possibly make use of Tebow in some kind of special formation, I really think some team will take a shot if it doesn't cost too much.

At this point we're probably talking the NFL minimum... but what's the value in someone that specialized who can only run a special formation a couple times a game? He's not the long snapper, he's not the running back who can line up in wildcat, he's not the wide receiver who's a threat to pass or the quarterback who's a threat to catch.

But the biggest drawback would be the fanfare of people who want Tebow to play for strictly non-football reasons.

Granted, he's only been in the league for a few years, but he's essentially Michael Vick 2.0, in that he's a gimmick quarterback who just can't adapt to the professional game. He can run really, really quickly, and he's got a semi-decent arm, but his skill set is incredibly raw. There's nothing refined about him in the slightest.

He could be a hell of a gunner on special teams, given that he's strong as an ox, but beyond that ... yeah, there isn't much there.

A year or two as a backup with a good coaching staff willing to put some serious time into chipping away the rough could do wonders for him. Not sure where that could be though. There are a few teams that don't have much to lose if they can pick him up on a budget. Jacksonville doesn't exactly suit the "good coaching staff" pre-req for helping him rise to his potential, but they couldn't do much worse with him around.

He would have had that in Denver, but they chose to jettison him instead of keeping him on as Peyton's backup. If anyone could train Tebow, it'd be Peyton. But the front office didn't see it that way; they're the ones who see him in practice every day, we just see the games. One can only assume that they had more faith in rookies than they did in Tebow.

Either that, or Denver cut him due to the pressure of the fans wanting to see Tebow, and didn't want that distraction for Peyton. Likewise with the Jets and Sanchez (although, Sanchez is probably on his way out now, too).

I was excited about Tebow + Manning thing and was slightly bummed when they sent Tebow packing, but this is what I came up with after thinking on it a bit..... As much as anything, Tebow was traded away because he would have been a terrible backup for Manning. Even if they worked on him and improved his throwing abilities, what he does is too far different from what Manning does. Basically, they would have needed a Manning gameplan and a contingency If-Manning-Is-Broke gameplan for Tebow. Denver needed a backup who could run a similar offense to Manning. A good place for Tebow to land and learn is a team that already has a gameplan setup for a mobile QB. That way, if he's pushed into action, they can keep the basis for their offense in place.

That and people are just assuming that Peyton is a good instructor or has any interest to do so. Unless we are just saying that Tebow could learn through osmosis which could be somewhat true I just don't think Tebow would fit in anyway on any team as a capable backup given the options most teams have.

Pretty much dead on. The distraction factor is certainly something that a team has to consider though. Not many starters are going to want to be overshadowed by their backup.

This would apply to every team in the league. It is like saying that Tebow is not NFL quarterback material which is true and something many people knew before he even joined the league.

If Tebow wants to play quarteback professionally, he needs to get his ass to the CFL.

If Tebow was smart and wanted to be part of the Jets. He would of just switched into a hybrid fb/hb. That would allowed him to touch the ball and even Tomlison had some touchdowns thrown as a rb. He just has some crazy idea he can play qb, he is so unqualified for the postion it's not even funny as far as profesional football goes.

He should take a page out of Denard Robinson's book. He definitely wanted to be a quarterback, but he was just happy to be drafted at all. Despite going to the combine as a wide receiver, he was drafted as a running back.
