    That's so much nonsense.

Kirk doesn't fight Khan because the actors' schedules didn't work out. Earlier versions of the script had them fighting it out.

Yep, it's customary for adversaries in a movie/tv series/book/whatever to face one another. That's neither a "trend" nor a "cliche," just an old, old facet of traditional storytelling. The folks who made TWOK were clever at working around their problem successfully, but painting it three decades later as some kind of innovation for which the movie deserves special recognition (unique?) is apologetic foolishness.

Right. Like Spielberg and Jaws. If the damn shark had been working properly, it wouldn't have been such a great movie. :D

    ^ Good :)

I'll review it after I see it again tonight. It'll be my fourth.

Fourth ! Wow. You really liked it. I went to see the previous one 4 times but I was pressured into the 3rd time. So it would probably only have been three.

I have to admit I can't wait to get the BluRay, though.

I just saw the movie the 2nd time and would like to change my review from a C to a B. None of the complaints above bothered me the second time except for the corny kirk/spock goodbye scene. I will see it one more time before it leaves the theaters and I predict finally giving it a B+ after the 3rd time.

And do you agree that McCoy did in fact only utter his iconic line once ?

Where was my mind at when I could've sworn that he said it three times when I saw the movie the first time? What if seeing it the third time makes me cry when Spock says goodbye to Kirk? You gotta figure that of all the millions who have seen the movie, at least a few people experienced the full tear-jerker effect that JJ Abrams intended for that kirk/spock goodbye scene.

Can't help but notice you didn't answer my question. You claimed it twice, and you were wrong.

The tragic (yes, I'll say it) for me came from seeing a friendship (apparently) cut short, when both of these versions of Kirk and Spock know about the "originals", and what was being long. In STID, a friendship ends too soon, just when both realize the value of the other. I'm looking forward to a second viewing to appreciate this and other scenes.

The movie is a big joyride, plot holes aplenty but it's so well done you don't care when watching most of it. Still I think I'm ready for a post-Abrams Trek.

I was watching V, the 1980s mini series, and the engine room of the Vistor's ship happens to be a brewery just like JJ Enterprise :p

^ That's not the engine room, it's where the Visitors keep the water they stole from Earth.

Not only was I dead wrong in the number of times Bones said, "I'm a doctor not an engineer." But the second time I saw STiD I LOVED every single word that came out of that brilliantly-casted Doctor's mouth.

For the upcoming blu-ray, I hope that the additional material is as informative as it was on the last film.

I was looking through the graphics for this film that have been released online, and noticed a unit of Starfleet Command had the same name as an actual black ops created by the American government.

No, it was the engine room, its during the tour they give the media at the beginning of the mini series. Maybe it was used later on as well.
