Am I the only one who thinks the klingon ships chasing them was pretty much a clone of star wars? It felt like the tie-fighters chasing luke when he´s on the way to destory the death star.

No. If anything, it's much closer to the shuttle-flight through the moon-dock before the reveal of the Rodger Young in Starship Troopers.

But then, there are far worse scenes you could steel from than the trench-run from Star Wars.

Honestly now: Do ANY of you folks actually KNOW these other posters' locations to be as advertised, or for that matter that they have absolutely not had opportunity to see the film, either in theaters or via bootleg?

I'll call it an educated guess based on what I've seen here and in other forums and leave it at that.

MY REVIEW WITHOUT SEEING THE MOVIE

I’m starting this on Monday the 13th and I wanted to document my thoughts how I think the movie will turn out. I know the grand surprise, revealing the villains true identity 2\3rds of the way through the film. Looks to me like it’s another Joker, Loki, Silva let the villain get captured then turn on you plot.

And that’s another thing, John Harrison as Khan. For good or ill Khan is the Joker of the Trek universe and we all knew he’d be here, but the writers are idiots to try and fake us out for two years. In the directors commentary for Trek2009 they said originally there was going to be one of those Marvel after credits scenes that just showed the Botany Bay floating in space. So they’ve known since 2008 that Khan was going to the villain in this movie.

So before going in here’s what I’ve learned that I love. I really like the Nimoy cameo as written, with him stating they beat Khan at “Great Cost.” WE’ll see how it plays in the future. I wonder if he’s written down things like V’ger and the Whale Probe? I wonder if Sybok died in Nero’s attack.

Sounds like Admiral Robo Cop is in league with Section 31. I can’t believe DS9 got the love here.

Savage, bat’leth wielding Klingons seem awesome, but I think they are going to be merely window dressing.

Here’s what I am not liking from what I read. The transwarp beaming from the last movie. Beaming to Qu’onos sounds ridiculous and it sounds like the distance from Earth to there might be terribly close, but in the pilot of Enterprise they made it there in four days at warp five, so we will see.

Ok, I can handle the Kirk death and resurrection. Every great Trek character has died and comeback, Kirk himself in Generations. In Space Seed McCoy actually said the line: “There’s something inside this man that refuses to accept death.” I’ll give them a bit of leeway with the magic Cheerleader blood.

But Spock yelling KHAAAAAN and going nuts plays terrible on paper, I hope Quinto can pull it off. I know that he’ll be dealing with the loss of Amanda and Vulcan and be much more emotionally compromised but I can’t help but think I’ll just roll my eyes and laught at this. I just can’t believe theyre’ going to recreareate the reversal of Trek’s greatest death scene, only to reverse it a few minutes later.

So that’s where I can on Monday. I’ll finish this on Thursday.

Casting Benedict Cumberbatch as Khan Singh made about as much sense as casting Jessica Alba as a blue-eyed blonde in the Fantastic Four movies - couldn't Cumberbatch simply have played another genetically-engineered superman from Khan's crew? If they wanted to give a nod to Space Seed/Wrath of Khan, then when they were putting all the cryo-pods into storage, why not show one of them being wheeled past, giving a quick glimpse of Ricardo Montalban's face superimposed in the viewing window?

Or a Hispanic who speaks with a Hispanic accent but is supposedly Indian.

Oh I imagine you're gonna last long around here.

I don't play well with fans of JarJar Abrams, so no. This place is all yours. Buckle up! Woo hoo! Punch it, dude!

Less baiting and less hotlinking of pics from other people's blogs, please.

Once again, let's stick to talking about the movie, and not about other posters. Remember where we're posting, 'K?

Saw it today with my sister. It was silly, but a lot of fun. The 3D was nothing to write home about.
I was a little disappointed that Kirk didn't say 'Second Star to the right, and straight on til morning' or something like that at the end of the film, what with all the other references that were in there. Nevermind.

Cumberbatch didn't really need to be Khan. He was a good baddie, sure, but he could've been Joachim (or Joaquin, however it's pronounced.) That might've actually been better.
I liked it quite a lot, despite a lot of the stupid stuff. I'll definitely go see it again. :D

so i got the soundtrack. the end of Kirk Enterprises is just amazing.

Me too, the track listing has no spoilers and the music is even better than I remember. That's the music that plays at the final scene where they embark on their 5 year mission.

If you listen to San Fran shuffle (Spock/Khan fight and chase) at around 1:55-2:05 minutes there is what sounds like the Amok Time battle music haha

i'm hoping (if they decide to just make these movies just a trilogy) then they use that version of the TOS theme more often.

I added my own, "Out there. Thataway" on premiere night. I thought I'd only just beat him to it.

LOL. Syfy is showing Generations now, then Insurrection, then Nemesis.

I am just sitting here, shaking my head at Syfy. Some programmer in there must, MUST have a seriously twisted sense of humor. If ever there were a bigger chasm between what was needed and what we got during those TNG-era-movie years... this was pretty much it. :guffaw:

Sorry, but I have to disagree here. The four TNG films WERE as much TNG as the series, and I could not think of better or other adventures for Picard's crew. Why the bashing... it is so 90ies. Move on already.

TNG movies were glorified TV episodes. They did nothing and looked no better than what people could watch on DS9 and VOY for free on TV. Most times, the TV shows were better.

Since the tv episodes and especially the Two-part episodes were always compared with actual motion pictures, they did something right then with the 4 films. ;)
