Evangelion 3.33: You Can (Not) Redo

Flew there and had someone to type translations on the fly on the screen with this macgyverism. None of it was saved so it's fair use or something.

Very little happens, but it's a good story, it has many major story points from the original tv series, new story about redoing things you feel suck, and new post-post-post-apocalyptic plot.

It's very slow and moody, gorgeously shot and epic, and actually has quality control. Anno's back! What little robot action there is, is almost unrecognisable as Eva.

Noticed this belongs in the "Science Fiction & Fantasy" section, and the colon in the title belongs, somewhat oddly right after "Evangelion" instead of "3.33". Mooods?

I'd like to add the movie's very symbolic and allegoric, and re-positions all the characters quite unexpectedly. Most of them are static but there is a pleasant exception.

Agreed, this one was a serious divergence from the series and events went in a different direction.

It's also basically confirmed that these are some type continuation to the series from what the dialog mentions, if the ending to 2.22 wasn't clue enough. Though this being Evangelion we will most likely never get the whole story of what's going on or an explanation to this convoluted mess before it ends in squiggly lines and lack of ink.

No. I mean "very little happens" sounds like the exact opposite of "it has many major story points", and that doesn't sound like it would lead to "a good story".

Evangelion can be very confusing.

My subconscious must have dismissed the action parts irrelevant, as on second viewing I measured half of the runtime's exactly that. The camerawork's very reminiscent of

Finally managed to catch up.

At times I wasn't sure, but the new movie universe has really grown on me.
And I absolutely loved that homage in the beginning. Even funnier once you notice that this continues throughout the whole movie.

Really not getting the negative reaction to this film in some circles online. Eva's never been without plot holes or bizarre, contradictory ideas in its mythology that don't quite add up when you think about it, but like always, Eva is about so much more.

Personally, I thought it was the best of the three Rebuilds so far (though End of Evangelion is still the best film overall).
