April 2013 challenge - Obsessions and Addictions

Well, I really did get a rather weird stare as a response when I mentioned that - saying, "OMG, she's crazy".

A lot of mods on here do have partners, though, so I don't have to resign.

First, I hit writer's block and then I procrstinated too much. I tried to make up for the latter but the story won't be finished in time for the deadline. Sorry.

I don't think there's a precedent for a contest without any participants so I'm not sure what we should do. Maybe a new theme for May chosen by you, jespah? Or do you have an idea? I'm open for (serious) suggestions by everyone else, too.

Huh - maybe a consensus challenge, e. g. something that the more active current participants agree on? Which would be you, me, Angry Fanboy and IHaventGotaLife, I am thinking.

I want to be fair, and at the same time give you a topic you want to work on.

That's a good idea. I don't have any particular idea in mind right now and I probably should stay bit back because I'm also the mod and don't want to influence such things. So I'm happy with whatever you folks come up with.

I actually got a very last minute idea for the "obsession" challenge, so if that was to be extended into May, I wouldn't mind. But, I'm cool if another topic is put forth.

Of course, I can't guarantee I'd get an entry in; freelancing is a fickle business...

Another idea is to possibly allow older stories, if they fit the prompt, so long as they haven't been posted here before (although they could have been posted elsewhere online). What does everyone think of that?

Let's extend to the 19th of May. This provides over a week from now, and should give enough time to read and vote before June 1st. Same challenge.

Just a suggestion but since you're extending the deadline anyway I tend to think that you might as well extend it up to the 25th or 26th since that still leaves five days in which to vote and set a new challenge - an ample amount of time if you ask me.

A 19th of May deadline leaves twelve days in which to vote and set a new challenge, which to my mind seems a touch excessive.

Just my opinion though.

I've started mine, I have the ending down. It's difficult to get the action down. I've never written action beyond a scene or so. I will try to finish. I thought I would have this down by now. But that's the update. Trying my best, but it's not looking good.
