A back injury will do that.

You can see this same sort of thing with ANY actor if you see enough of their work. Leonard Nimoy did an episode of The Untouchables ("Takeover") in 1962, and you can spot a lot of pre-Spock mannerisms. He's also with William Shatner in The Man From U.N.C.L.E.'s "The Project Strigas Affair" (shot around the same time as "The Cage" pilot judging from Nimoy's haircut), and you can recognize little bits of business from both of them.

For actors, those little recurring mannerisms of their own personality are tools they use in creating a character.

The quarrel with Shatner is tiresome but I don't see it as a reason to hate the guy or think he's a nasty person.

"Nasty person" "loathsome human being"? Neither. I've met the man. I don't care for his acting, but your choice of words says more about you than you realize. Lighten up.

I never liked "Battlefield". Frank Gorshin in tights looked too much like Riddler in black/white face. I get the concept, but the execution just didn't work for me.

    Comforts gently.

There's a lot worse - both regulars and guests - before get to Majel.

Dominic Keating. I find almost every line he speaks annoying, the combination of his abruptness of speaking with his accent makes him seem like he's always stuck in traffic.

And I think Robert Duncan McNeil and Roxann Dawson are at least as bad as Beltran and Wang. They got better writing, but they were never very convincing.

    How severe?

I have back injury from duty in Iraq that comes and goes from time to time over the last 10 years. I don't walk like that. I do not have a profile and can still run and do PT.

My father broke his back when he fell once. Of course he walked similiar to Riker after the surgery but after recovery and throughout the years unti lhe passed away he walked like a normal person.

Gates McFadden was absolutely horrible. Like watching driftwood try to emote. And a strong second place to to go to Robert Beltrane from Voyager. Wow. If anyone could sleepwalk through an episode, it was him!

Notable mention goes to Marina Sirtis, Avery Brooks ( who was inconsistent...sometimes very good, sometimes very bad) the actor who played Kes in Voyager, and Scott Bakula (another inconsistent actor...sometimes great, sometimes bad).

    Worst Trek Regular?
Terry Farrell. I'm sorry but bad hair style + line deliveries that sound like something that a high school student would say really make me cringe but bad writing and direction can do that. I don't blame the actors.

    Worst Trek Guest Star?
John Crawford as Commissioner Farris. Ge just came off as a stick in the mud. However I read somewhere that he had a pretty uncomfortable time with his brief appearance on The Galileo Seven so I don't fault him for it.

Without a doubt or peer in this category, Jolene Blalock! Now, I may have mentioned this elsewhere, but this actress had no business being cast in such an important role as T'Pol in "Enterprise." She simply did not have the chops or self-confidence for it. By my estimation, she was at least a full 20% of what was wrong with this series. I can only guess they got her cheap. Real cheap. Fire sale cheap.

I actually thought she and Trinneer were the bright spots on the show.

Bakula, Trinneer and Billingsly were good. Well, as "good" as the scripts they were given allowed them to be anyway. Blalock was bad regardless of any external factors. One could even say, "She was bad to the bone" - And not the cool "bad to the bone," but the bad (as in "terrible") "Bad to the bone."

I came to enjoy Blalock's performance. Carbon Creek is a favorite. IIRC, she was a fan of TOS.

She also said These are the Voyages... was akin to getting "poked in the rear" on Valentine's Day.

Bakula was bad most of the way and wasn't cut out to play a Star Trek captain, Billingsley was "there" most of the time but didn't really shine very often.
