Canada has produced, what, 90% of TV sci-fi over the last 20 years? ;)

Well I wouldn't go as far as to say 90%, but a fair chuck of Sci-Fi shows have been produced in Canada over the last few years.

But to answer the overall question, Cananda like any other country produces some shows that are good and some that are bad.

Stargate was produced in Canada (for a U.S. company).

Degrassi: TNG!! Okay, so it's devolved into a marginally okay guilty pleasure by this point, but I used to really enjoy the show.

Sure, if you count American shows produced in Canada for tax breaks, like The X-Files.

That's an example of what I mean (though for the most part it wouldn't count as "good" TV.)

I haven't seen it but I actually went to highschool with one of the actresses in the movie, Polly Shannon. We were lab partners in Chemistry class a few times. I doubt she'd remember me though.

Yes, of course. Quite a few, in fact. Some are sold internationally. Off the top of my head:

Corner Gas, Being Erica, Little Mosque on the Prairie, Murdoch Mysteries, and yeah, Degrassi: TNG when it was good. And there are many more if you look back throughout the years. I was going to list Due South, however that's a co-production. Although the situation is interesting on that one, as when CBS bailed after the 3rd season I think it was, then production continued, and we got an extra season in Canada, although Fraser's partner Ray was replaced with some other guy. That season in particular has become rare to see, as it's never part of the syndication package and has all but disappeared as a result.

I don't personally count the American programs shot in Canada, as the American companies just shoot them here because it's cheaper, even though a lot of Canadians do work on them. Just the same as I wouldn't call a Canadian program shooting down south an American one.

Heh, if we're taking about the Men with Brooms movie, that one was shot partly where I live. Never ended up catching the TV show.

One of my sons favorite shows on Nick Jr is Dino Dan, a very well done show about a kid named Dan who loves and sees dinosaurs. You're left unsure weather the dinosaurs are real or just his imagination.

We come out with a few decent shows here and there, but we're in no way comparable to The United States, Japan, or England.

Reboot, Beast Wars, Red Green Show, and Corner Gas are probably our highlights.

Less than kind is outrageously funny.

The theme song! "Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate... Winnipeg."
