Who was the earliest graduate of Starfleet Academy?

Melakon

Are there any clues?

And none of that "the class of 2165" stuff either. ;)

This is the kind of answerable question I come up with after a nap.

My undying gratitude. :D

I intended to type "unanswerable question", but I'd just woke up.

I was going by Memory Alpha's article for Starfleet Academy, which says it was founded in 2161.

Pre-Federation Starfleet had no Academy, just a training program called STC. The Academy diploma seen Storm Front has been confirmed to be a mistake.

What is the reference for this?
It really hasn't been confirmed to be a mistake, just an opinion that it is. While Archer made a reference to "Starfleet Training," and Tucker to always being in trouble at something called "S.T.C.," it really doesn't rule out that the Earth Starfleet had its own pre-Federation Academy as indicated in "Storm Front."

I remember someone from behind the scenes admitting as much shortly after the episode aired.

It's odd that Memory Alpha makes no mention of an institution referred to as "Starfleet Academy" prior to 2161 at all, even in the O'Malley article which has a picture clearly showing the diploma.

Maybe it's a side effect of the Temporal Cold War.

It's in their "Starfleet Academy (Earth)" article as having existed as early as the 2140s for the Earth Starfleet.

And in that article:

As there were never any earlier or later mentions to Starfleet Academy in Star Trek: Enterprise, the diploma would appear to be a mistake on the part of the art department, especially since it was the intention of the producers that Starfleet Academy did not exist until the founding of the Federation.

Which is their opinion. Memory Alpha frequently does offer their opinion and conjecture on topics (especially those with no clear consensus) in separate boxes in their articles. But that very same particular article still lists an Earth Starfleet Academy existing prior to the Federation, which would support what was shown in "Storm Front." I don't see a reason to dismiss it because it wasn't what the show's original creators might have intended.

Well it does explain how I missed the article. I was typing 'starf', the autofind listed only the main Academy article, and never the '(Earth)' one.

But is it only a visual reference due to the diploma? Or is it supported with dialogue anywhere?
