Nice. I am getting a boat over and riding my bike from Santander to Valencia in the spring.

You wouldn't catch me dead in Berlin at that night. (In fact, chances are not all that low that I would actually be dead afterwards) There's a lot of crime, riots, people getting killed or severely injured. Lots of attacks against foreigners. Plus the crowd, noise, drunks, drugs...
Naaah, thanks, not my cup of tea at all.

Headed for a private sailboat charter in the British Virgin Islands (leaving tonight), so I've got that going for me :)

6 of us going, food and booze included, 2 crew. Going to be a blast!

LOL tomorrow the authorities will issue a warning to all trawlers and cargo ships in a 200 mile radius to beware of a boat going on a zigzag course.

Well, I didn't make that (fantasy?) plan - but with a year to plan what to do and where to go (and -especially- what not to do and where not to go) I would consider it a decent plan for a different night on the town.

Besides, once the ones that came up with that plan had shared it with the rest of us we came up with a counter-attack and suggested taking x-mas and new years eve in London instead...

London had awesome fireworks this year. Propably leftovers from the Diamond Jubilee :D
I can also recommend late October/early November when there is the Indian light festival (Diwali) on Trafalgar Square. Good food, friendly people, interesting music, lots of fun :) This year it'll be on Nov 3rd.

Brilliant idea, indeed, and the others would also love it :bolian:

Only, Berlin and London are both a one-hour flight away, not a twelve-hour flight + we couldn't drive ourself or take a train or a bus :(

ah! The secret is out: you just want to try our Autobahn with no speed limit :D
Most of them have such bad potholes that you can't go faster than 100 mph / 160 kmh anyway. The fastest I've done so far is 180 kmh but that's mostly because my car can't go faster ;)

I don't drive and personally I prefer travelling by train, so ehrm no, not that.

It might influence me that I miss speaking German though :p

    My plans:

Clean my house! We have accumulated soooo much over 25 years, we're both collectors to a point, and Hubby in particular hesitates to get rid of stuff. I'm left with literally giving him ONE shoebox of HIS stuff at a time and put up with his complaints that I'm not getting anything done. I'm not gonna toss his stuff unilaterally, but it's in the way of clearing up.

Go back to the gym. My thyroid's numbers are bad again, so I need the dosage readjusted or 1/2 hour of exercise means 2 hours of sleep and 4 hours of groginess. Back to the doc so I can hit the gym.

Go to Comic-Con if we can get tickets. We went in 1991. I think it was their first year at the big convention center. If not that, then maybe Seattle; see the museum up there.

I'm planning to finish renovating my appartment: the hall still needs to be painted and there are a few heavy picture frames to be hung up, I must sew new curtains for the living room and I still have a few moving boxes to unpack.
I'd also like to get on with a highlander (the series) fanfic I started years ago.
And far on the top of my list there's a visit to my GP to find out whether my recent backpain is owed to a dislocated rib or a slipped disk.

@ Trekkiedane: If you ever tried German trains you'll prefer a car. I certainly do. Trains in Germany are never on time, indescribably dirty, uncomfortable, shabby, loud, highly expensive, badly maintained and the staff is rude or so badly informed themselves that they are anything but helpful.
Also, the train network is very bad. In order to visit my parents (75 km one way) I must switch trains 3 times and twice the connecting train leaves 5 mins before I arrive so that I must wait an hour for the next one And in the weekends many stations are closed so that I must wait in the open or in an unheated shed at -20°C. The trip takes over 3 hours and costs 80 Euros, one way.
Renting a car for a whole weekend costs 85 Euros (plus 25 for gas) and the trip takes 55 minutes.

Toss the empty boxes that have been in my second bedroom since I moved a year ago, and unpack the rest.

I figure I might find time around September.

Edited to add: and buy a couch, since I tossed my old one when I moved.

Have a few things that I want to achieve this year:-

At least find some part time work, as I study atbtafe.
Continue to lose weight, as I try and health and exercise more.
    Buy/make more costumes for conventions.

Why not sell the boxes to someone who moves? This could get you a bit of money for the new couch.
