The 2 Minute Trailer?

Anyone notice the father (Noel Clarke) dropping the ring into the glass also has a Starfleet dress uniform (Like Kirk and Scotty are wearing) on as well as a wet mark on his cheek where a tear has just run down the side of his face?

Yeah. He's probably just betrayed starfleet to save his kid.

I know people in this thread have said the pod scene seems like a morgue rather than stasis pods.. and the flag folding right before it would seem to point to that. But why would coffin capsules have windows in them?

Wow.. I was wondering what that was about but it does like like a signet ring you would get from a school or organization..

That's what I thought. Kind of odd to say that at some point everyone under your command will die..

Could be that Starfleet is getting ready to lop off Kirk's figurative head when the crisis with Harrison erupts?

I'm really of two minds about his film. It looks like it could be great but then it looks like it might be going back over the same story beats from the first film.

Yep, I'm feeling more solid about my theory earlier in the thread:

Nah. Look at the look on his face. He's seriously hungover. That's just the shape of Alka-Seltzer in the 23rd century. The clip's too short to see it fizz.

Public viewing?

We've never seen that before. And unless they were all gassed you would presume some were pretty damaged.

You mean we've never seen coffins with a face window?

There was one in "The Schizoid Man" http://tng.trekcore.com/gallery/albums/s2/2x05/theschizoidman122.jpg

But I'm not convinced these are coffins. They look refrigerated so it's probably either stasis tubes or mortuary cold chambers.

Also, if they were coffins being stored for whatever reason, and they were Starfleet personnel, AND IF they do follow military protocol (at least as the US has done it), wouldn't each coffin be covered with a Federation flag? (Not that they have to do that, but still --.)

OK, someone can certainly crucify me for asking, but has Trelane occurred to anyone?

I was going through the "rogues gallery" in my head, and he just popped out.

English accent, vast superior powers and abilities, and a possible vendetta against Kirk, depending on how it played out in this continuity.

Probably not, but I'm just throwing it out...

MRE
Watched the "squire of gothos" today. No way. The character is basically a child and can't be taken seriously.

Can anybody tell me why every time I try to play the new teaser it prompts me to DL Quicktime?

I've had QT DL'd on my 'puter for ages... (with auto updates)

NM... I DL'd it from my iTunes account.

They're not coffins. They're cryogenic units.

A trivial thing, but kind of cool for an old-timer like me is that in this image:

The insignia pin Kirk wears is identical to the one he wore as part of his admiral's uniform in Star Trek The Motion Picture, the design of which was later repurposed as the central part of the jacket insignias worn in TWOK and later movies.

The old chevron-with-star is very different from the versions we've seen up until now in nuTrek.

Anybody notice what looks like some kind of a Klingon BOP chasing a shuttle-pod/disc through a bunch of buildings?

(at 1:21)
