In fact, I think presents a lot of potential. "Into Darkness" has always struck me as if to imply some sort of progression into the next film--like ST13 is the darkness or whatever.
What if Cumby actually wins? He turns out to bee too much for Kirk and at the end of the film the Enterprise is destroyed, half its crew are dead, and Kirk is left broken and Cumby really does succeed in some sort of coup of Star Fleet. Kirk gets a message from Spock Prime telling where to find the one person who can stop Cumby. Fade into darkness. Roll creds.
I really like the idea that Cumby is an augment from the opposing faction.ooh...
Cargo hold on the Botany Bay?
My guess for the plot is that some of Khan's followers or even rival genetically engineered supermen, including Harrison, were put into cryostasis (possibly beneath London) instead of escaping aboard the Botany Bay, and he emerges from stasis to gain followers with necessary skills he can exploit (like the parents of the dying girl he offers to cure) before he starts to wreak havoc on Earth to exact revenge and rebuild their empire.

Frame at 1 Min and 28 Secs looks interesting. Night Time in a City and Kirk fires a Phaser Rifle at an approaching Shuttle outside.
At 1 min 11 Secs I at first thought it was Enterprise engaging another vessel, but at 1080p on the trailer you can see its some kind of shuttle cutting its way into the ship or this might be a building.
OK, someone can certainly crucify me for asking, but has Trelane occurred to anyone?

It's a building, the camera is facing up at the sky. There's a walkway to another building beside it so it's part of a complex, looks similar to the grey panneled one from the opening of the other trailer.

Anyone notice the father (Noel Clarke) dropping the ring into the glass also has a Starfleet dress uniform (Like Kirk and Scotty are wearing) on as well as a wet mark on his cheek where a tear has just run down the side of his face?
