    Bye bye, Gary.

    I like.

Interesting reading some comments from the non-trekkie crowd - definitely a thumbs up for "Sherlock".

What? Is there something different at this topics link not seen elsewhere?

I prepared a post for the other teaser thread but I am going to put it here, ahead of their complaints.

How illogical is it for such a cerebral bunch who want their Trek to be smart 'like it used to be' to NOT get how logical JJ's Trek really is? (Yes JJs #1 wasn't perfect but no Trek is totally without flaws and goofs.)

Nero plunged the quadrant into chaos and the logical thing for the sequel to do is get right back into explorations?

No, the logical thing is for every crackpot and despot with a will and power to pull it off to take advantage of the situation and try to make their insane desires come true.

Please try and let the trilogy play out. After that things might be settled down enough for Trek as you know it to return. Logical?

^Possibly a fair point, not sure yet. Do we know for sure he is a Human?

Assuming he is, remember this "is not your fathers Star Trek", so TBTBs willingness to follow that particular canon point in this universe/timeline, whatever, is yet to proven.

We know the point of the reboot was to free itself from the immense baggage of the prior canon so, from a freedom of story-telling standpoint, it wouldn't make sense to follow that same path again. Personally, I suspect NuTrek has only begun to break the hearts of the Canonista.

I was being silly. The evolved bit is propaganda they feed you in Starfleet.

In one of the interviews to promote the Star Trek Ongoing comic, Mike Johnson described Star Trek as the temporal butterfly flapping it's wings and Into Darkness as the resulting tornado. I think that sounds about right. It looks fantastic.

You know, I'm starting to think Cumby's "I have returned to take my vengeance!" is actually directed at the Klingons. He's an undercover Klingon operative who was betrayed somehow, locked up by Starfleet and leads a one-man crusade back to Kronos for revenge.
