Alice and I used to date. She wanted to marry me, but I told her no cuz she's too ugly. She still won't leave me alone. The only reason she's in this movie, is because she was told I was going to play the villain, but I turned that one down too....are any of you buying in to what I'm saying?? ;)

She also has heterochromia. Check out her different coloured eyes.

The shot of the Starship emerging from the water: does it look like its being pulled out by something, rather than under its own power? no lights on it that I can see - like its offline totally

To be fair, the only part of the ship visible in that shot is the nacelles, which as we see in the first film close up and power down when not in warp flight, so we have no real idea whats happening there.

Cumberbatch said in Japan that the character is definitely the villain, and he's ruthless, but he's also complicated and shouldn't be judged by "black-or-white," or "good-or-evil."

To me, that rules out Khan. As a tragic figure, Mitchell tends to fit that description.

But, why the sustained suspense (OK, it's J.J.'s way)? Khan was in the title of TWOK and that didn't spoil anything for anyone. If it's Mitchell, then what does it spoil to say so? After all, the average movie goer knows no more about Mitchell than he did about Khan going into TWOK. It's hardly going to be the deal maker about whether or not they see the film.

To that end, the longer this goes on, the more I'm really hoping to be shocked by who it is when we finally get the big reveal. It'd be great for it to be someone totally out of left field.

I believe it is Pike and Spock, as Kirk looks on amazed at the bond between them he never truly understood before.

    As to why, I haven't a clue but, I suspect it's Pike's death scene.

No, it's kirk. Zoom in on the pic if you can. It's recognisably him.

Those fins would gather a lot of water between them, which runs off in sheets covering the rest from view, it's the Enterprise.

Or does another ship have NCC-1701 painted on it for the hell of it?

Oh. Derp. I skim read what serenitytrek1 wrote and thought they were talking about Pike addressing people. My bad.

Aw man. If this were actually the plot, it could quite possibly be the greatest Trek film of all time.

Except that in the 2009 movies, the fins swooped downwards and are not doing that on engines in new movie. So new engines then.

And I can see NCC but not 1701...at best 17. There's 12 more ships with numbers after 17

I don't know what people are seeing, but those look like the Enterprise's nacelles to me. The aft end is the same, the fins are the same, the bulbous front is the same.

If you go with canon, we've seen the Lexington, Defiant, Hood, Intrepid, Excalibur, and Potemkin. (I might've missed some.)

Wow I know this is a Star Trek site, but can we read anymore in the trailer? I mean really.

However for a STAR Trek trailer there isn't a lot of stars in the trailer. It looks like a great Batman Beyond movie.

Unless they airbrushed it that hand on the glass is not Pike's. The hand is the hand of a younger man not a middle aged one. It's smooth and lacks wrinkles of any kind. Plus after seeing upteenth episodes of Heroes and American horror Story it looks like Quinto's hand.

I'm definitely ruling out Gary Mitchell as the villain. His speech patterns are too formal for GM. It's closer to the way Khan spoke. He doesn't move too Mitchell like. He moves more like one of the Augements from Enterprise. I'm not so sure it's Khan either. But Khan seems more likely than Mitchell. It could be Garth of Izar or he's a brand new character. I'm leaning towards new character but it's one of Khan's people.

No, they don't look the same as I've shown. The fins on the 2009 move swoop downwards as they go back. These do not. It's not an angle thing either. In addition, the nacelles on the 2009 movie also taper as they move to the back of the nacelle, with a slight downward angle as well. These do not.
