Animated Firefly in works?

Hmmm, I'm not so sure how well Firefly's charms would work with the animation medium. I don't think it's as slam-dunk as other properties might be. So few things get to end while the bloom is still strong, I'd just as well it stay fallow (not that I wouldn't check it out should it get made).

I could see it being a lot of fun if they manage to bring back the writers or at least writers who are equally as talented.

The characters were paper-thin enough when portrayed by actors on film, thanks...

Only if by "paper thin" you mean better-fleshed-out-and-well-rounded-after-a-mere-13-week-run-than-"Enterprise"-managed-to-accomplish-in-4-seasons.

Hmm, I look forward to it premiering right after the Buffy animated series, the Ripper TV show, and the Spike TV movie

This would be interesting to see, and I'd certainly love to give it a chance, but Im still on the fence about the idea. Itll always have that cult following trying to get something more from it, but maybe this is the best way to go. (or in fact, one of the only available options.)

The worst thing I found about the Firefly/Serenity comics was that I just didn't feel like the writing grasped the characters well enough, and I think a lot of that was simply due to the lack of the actors' presence. The actors made those characters awesome, so I could see an animated series being a little better if we could get all their voices back.

They were pretty good, its just not the real thing.

^Do you not understand how a comparison works?

"If we're dreaming, tell me what you think about this: Firefly the animated series," Fillion said during the panel.

I saw the panel in question. Fillion was obviously joking when he said that, he certainly didn't seem serious...especially since right after that they started joking about making Firefly radio plays.

So no, I don't think there's anything in the works for an animated Firefly. Just a few people taking a joke too literally.

Fillion has been cracking jokes like this for awhile, remember a few years ago when he -drunkenly- cracked a joke about buying the rights to the show and then putting it on himself?
