J.J.'s "Conan" appearance; reveals clip from "Star Trek Into Darkness"

Re: J.J.'s "Conan" appearance; reveals clip from "Star Trek Into Darkn

This is even funnier because it's probably a bit of film that been edited OUT of the film...

Remember he said he is in the middle of editing the movie now.

We'll all go crazy trying to find this bit while watching the movie when it finally hits...

... but it won't be there.

:guffaw:

The Vulcan Torch!

But is the outrage real? I thought it was all parody.

Here, that's mostly a yes, but other places...

I can't believe the outrage going on here and on Trekmovie. It was a cool gag. Get a sense of humour, people, FFS!!!!!
If you think they're bad, you should see the comments when this was posted on Facebook. They're still not over Trek being rebooted, let alone being able to face JJ on Conan.
There are some folks still getting over the outrage they felt following the Variety announcement back in April 2006.

All you can really do is say "Okay, that's... nice," and take your earliest opportunity to make a graceful exit, because reasonable discussion just ain't going to be happening.

Don't I know it! My "experience" wasn't on Facebook, but I surely dealt with some zealots over the course of several months that made trekker spoofs seem like an understatement.

I wish I'd run into your sage advice about a year ago...

How does doing the reboot equal not caring? They cared enough to pony up the money to pay for a new film.

I beg to differ. The reboot was the best thing to happen to Trek in years. And appeared to be a major effort on the studio's part . . . .

I mean, God forbid that they should actually try to attract a new generation of moviegoers and make Star Trek popular again!

Why are people so wigged out by this? Just some harmless fun.

The film I saw was a loving and respectful tribute to The Original Series.
And let's not forget it was given the Highest Budget ever for a Star Trek Film (I think, unless inflation is worse than I thought)

Loving, respectful AND awesome.

Gee, how many versions of that picture did they make? :p

I imagine one of the laws of acquisition is: "You have to speculate to accumulate".

You make it sound as if the people at Paramount revere Star Trek so much that they would put it up on the mantle and admire it every day while it just sits there.

No -- Paramount uses Star Trek for one purpose, and that purpose is to make money with it. That's why Paramount made six TV series and ten films prior to Abrams -- to MAKE MONEY. It's not because they revere Star Trek as some sort of "high art" or have some deep deep personal love for the Star Trek ideal.
