PICTURE POST II!

arm_zps42f9b6f2.jpg

not only have I scarred my lovely face with metal hoops, I have also scarred my arms with Halloween themed images :)

hehehe. ;)

Compliments are always nice, makes ya feel all warm and fuzzy inside ;)

That is welcome news, because if I may say so, you are very pretty, laika. I myself have no piercings or tats but when done right they can look great on other people (I have no opinion, really, on the subject; I just know I don't want them, but I don't mind if others do), and you've certainly done well. :) :techman:

Ruaidhri, I like your first moody shot especially, very atmospheric. Don't tell me that was done with a phone!? :)

That's my favorite one as well!

I'm afraid I must tell you that they were all taken with my iPhone 4S. I get better pictures on my phone than I do with my actual camera. Better video, too.

But I'm hoping to eventually get a DSLR so I can really improve my photography.

As well you should, especially when one of them looks like the Goddamned Batman logo! :techman:

Well, you're certainly getting the best out of it! And those phones can be amazing sometimes... do you ever check out Flickr's interesting photos...? The amount of breathtaking epic shots done with the iphones is just ridiculous! I don't know how they do it, I cannot seem to produce anything on that level with mine! I think you need the right light, time, place, and instinct of course, and a good helping of luck... or that's what I tell myself... :p

But I'm hoping to eventually get a DSLR so I can really improve my photography.
I think if you got that out of a phone, you'll do wonders with a DSLR! Some great deals in the pre-owned stores (usually like a 3rd off) for anyone looking to buy, and a one year guarantee thrown in, which takes the risk out of it... the better brands are built to last, so I do not think it is essential to go brand new, unless you can comfortably do so.

So I finally just got myself caught up on this thread and I see there was some discussion about my pic that kinda branched off into a discussion about peoples' opinions about body modification in general.. I'm so glad my stupid little picture sparked so much controversy! hahaha....anyways, just wanna say: I'm not offended by peoples' opinions ;) ...and furthermore, if I do find myself offended or insulted, I try to let go of those feelings within myself...it's my issue, not theirs. I'm pretty comfortable with the way I look.. I've had all of my piercings and all of my tattoos for years now and they are part of me. What other people think really doesn't concern me one way or the other. But on that note, thanks for the compliments too! Compliments are always nice, makes ya feel all warm and fuzzy inside ;)
I think it's both people's problem; yeah, you should have a thick skin and not take offense at every little thing, but on the other hand, people shouldn't just be dicks. On top of that, I usually get the impression when people say things like what was said about your piercings, that they really don't realize how rude and insulting they're being. Like you, I am not offended when people make negative comments about my tattoos (because I like them), and I've gotten plenty of negative comments about them around here, but just because you and I have a thick enough skin to deal with it doesn't mean it's not wrong.

Anyway, here's on of my tatts, the most recent one, from a the summer before last. The last time I posted it I was told how horrible it was that I'd scribbled all over myself. But hey, if you're gonna scribble all over yourself, you could do worse for quotations to choose!

That is fantastic.

Also, if you ever get bored waiting at the doctor or while in a queue, you'll always have something to read with you.

^Thanks! Nothing like a bit of Francis Bacon to brighten one's forearm! As for waiting room reading -- alas, my waits are usually longer than 0.7 seconds.

Well, consider the time you can devote to meditating on that quote, pondering all possible meaning and consequences.

Or you can start singing it at the top of your lungs, possibly in many different keys. That should reduce your time of waiting quite significantly. ;)

^At least if I happen to be waiting in the reception of a psych hospital (I have a really good anecdote about doing just that, actually!).

The best part about that specific quotation, of course, is not the meaning it holds for me personally, nor the various interpretations other individuals may find, nor even the great mind from which it originally came, but the fact that the first time I heard it as a young teen, the person quoting Bacon was Eddie Izzard.

Wait. So you like Eddie Izzard as well? Along with all the other awesome stuff? Giiiiiiiiiirl do I ever need to get over there and hang out or what?

When I was a kid I named one of my cats Eddie because the marking on his face made him look like he was wearing eyeliner. :)
