Shatner: The Next Generation Documentary

TrekToday

The ever-busy William Shatner has begun a new project, this one focusing on Star Trek: The Next Generation. The actor spoke about his new project ahead of his forthcoming appearance at Destination Star Trek London, at which all five television Star Trek captains will be appearing later this month. The idea for a documentary about [...]

Why do I picture this as Shatner being the proverbial old man ranting about "how it was done in his day" :p

Shatner mentioned this documentary last month when on stage with Stewart in Montreal. Incidentally, if you've seen him on stage at a convention, ranting on about stuff is about all he does, albeit not angrily.

Also - a Xena documentary? What relation could he possibly have to that franchise?

Clearly Xena and Gabrielle were an item only because Xena didn't have a man like Kirk in her life. ;)

I'm all for more TNG documentaries, but somehow I have a feeling this is going to end up being more about him. Just like in his Captains doc.

This sounds like a train wreck. The only thing The Shat knows about TNG is that he wasn't in it. And that still pisses him off.

Bill Shatner admitted in the "The Captain's Summit" that he never watched a single episode of TNG. I firmly believe that for this reason alone, he should refrain from producing a TNG documentary.

I have nothing against Mr. Shatner, quite the contrary, but this is just misguided.

Perhaps, for this project, he finally will?

I'm with you. I'm not interested in seeing Shatner in a TNG documentary. The parts of Captains that I liked, I liked despite his involvement, not because of it.

I wasn't crazy about "The Captains", but I enjoyed how out of his mind Avery Brooks came across. That guy's a nutjob.

However I thought the most recent trek doc that shatner did ("Get a Life") was pretty good. It was a lot like Trekkies, although not as funny, and too "emotional" at times. It was good enough to watch twice though. The guy who dresses up as mr. data and the borg made it worth seeing alone.

Yeah seriously... it's hard to see him as Sisko after seeing him loose his mind in real life. He has a DUI shortly after that doc.
