^Now, that is a problem! -not reading the directions is usually the best way to not do anything wrong.

Ikea-directions are the exception that confirm this rule: if you don't read those you are in deep...
 
But they're not!

Most problems people get themselves into while assembling Ikea-stuff -in my experience- is that they think it looks simple enough and just begin without 'reading' the instructions.

They invariably get into trouble at some point and then refer to the instructions. This is the point when they realise they are totally lost -usually because they did things in the wrong order (as they didn't follow instructions) and are not able to continue assembling because things that interlock cannot... mostly because they weren't assembled in the right order...

Best job-skill-test ever: assemble a piece of Ikea-furniture from a flat-pack! It shows if people are able to read simple instructions and if they are capable of following instructions, it shows if people have patience and if they have too many thumbs :)

^Yup. Helps to watch what you're doing, too. A friend of mine put together an Ikea bookcase last week -- twice. First time, he put the shelves (not the removable kind) in backwards, so the unfinished edges faced out. Had to take the bookcase almost completely apart to correct it. :lol:

Some dinner items for tonight...nothing complicated, just the essentials to whip up a quick bachelor's meal.
 
^You know, that sounds rather good! -I think I'll go to the market tomorrow and get some potatoes, onions and some sausages... fried and together (perhaps with a fried egg) it's just the thing :drool:
 
Made homemade chili with big chunks of ground beef. My culinary skills are "meh" at best but I know how to whip up a great bowl of thick, meaty and spicy chili. ;)
 
^I never really got the hang of chilies -but I cook a vicked tomato/ground beef-based sauce-thing, the kind that goes well with pasta.
 
^I love making chili, and make both chili and vegetarian chili pretty damned well, if I do say so myself. I've recently learned how to vastly improve my already exceptional chili con carne recipe by using the trick of a friend: cook it all day in beer.
 
I put oyster crackers in my chili. It's an old trick I learned in local restaurants and hangouts when I was a teenager in high school and it works like a charm...oyster crackers mixed in with chunky, spicy chili is incrediawesomeable.

I just trademarked that word. Hands off.

bought a TOS stamper set off eBay. no earthly use for it whatsoever, just like knowing I can stamp Kirk, Spock, McCoy and the Ent1701 on any surface I wish. Silly and intoxicating!

I'm guessing it's used the same way a (large) glass of red wine is used in other -more Mediterranean perhaps- ground beef stew recipes...
