Could Man of Steel be a de facto starting point?
Then roll out Flash, WW and a JL movie.
Let's face it this could be a great fallow area to get distance between Nolan Batman and the next solo Bat franchise. Batman is one of two characters in the film that needs ZERO introduction. They could just cast an actor for JL film(s). Also toss in John Stewart as GL, a de factor reboot there?
Of course, in most of these cases we're talking about people who were actors first and then trained to do the necessary stunts. Not a lot of people start out as stunt performers and then become actors, though it's been known to happen (e.g. Jock Mahoney, Doug McClure, Ann Robinson, Zoe Bell, and of course the ultimate stuntman, Jackie Chan).
Casting a champion swimmer as Aquaman strikes me as overly literal, too, but, to be fair, there is an historical precedent for a Gold-Medal swimmer becoming a movie star.
Anybody remember Johnny Weismuller?

Not to mention his contemporary, and fellow screen Tarzan, Buster Crabbe.
I didn't know he was out of rehab.Maybe Flipper is looking for work . . ..
Chris Pine would be my ideal Aquaman personally...

They might be better off just offering Bale more money than he could possibly refuse.
Why? Glenn Close would make a better Aquaman than Phelps, what makes you think he would be a good choice?
Because he could do all his own stunts, and he really is a superhuman swimmer.
But he's not an actor...
Bruce Jenner is a bit old to play Superman, after all, I remember seeing him on a box of Wheaties when I was a kid. Probably a body builder would be the best for this role if we go strictly by body type.Because he could do all his own stunts, and he really is a superhuman swimmer.

This got me thinking of when the Salkinds actually screen tested Bruce Jenner for Superman.
