Coming home from work and being greeted by all three of my dogs, immediately followed by greetings from my son and my wife. It's an emotional lift, but it's also a very real physical feeling of relaxation and relief.
Ah, the warm greeting from beloved animals and family.
I can partially relate... I've never owned any dogs, but have come to know a few over the years, two of which belong to a friend of mine and when I come over they leap, bound, squeal, bark, and lick me in delight at the sight of me. It's such a heart warming experience to get such a showering of love. My neighbors have a dog that puts up a really big fuss if you show up and ignore her--she demands to be picked up and cuddled for at least a good 10-15 mins (if you put her down prematurely, she'll bark in protest). They were away for a month and took her with them, and when they came back, the dog curled up at my feet as I sat outside, giving that undeniable message of "hey, I really missed you".
